Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 8, Term 2.
Last fortnight, all classes marked National Reconciliation Week, Kinder students enjoyed a visit from a fire truck, our girls and boys touch teams competed in gala days, 14 students travelled to Tamworth to participate in a workshop to prepare our two teams to compete in the Tournament of the Minds, and our debating teams took part in a training workshop hosted at Ben Venue.
This week our debaters compete in the first round of the Premiere's Debating Challenge, our top runners travel to Coolah for the North West cross county carnival and Year 6 students have their first transition visit to ASC.
Playground project
For some years now, our school and P&C have been working towards a significant upgrade to our school playground, focusing on the area uphill of the multi-purpose court. The project will see the landscaping of the area, creating a flat play space and sandstone tiered seating area, surrounding a traverse (rock climbing) wall and obstacle course on softfall material. A second phase of the project will include the installation of shade sails over the area.
This initiative represents the joint work and collaboration between our school, P&C and Student representative Council over several years. While progress to this point has been slower than we would like, I am excited to share that we should see works commence in Semester 2 this year. If all goes to plan, the project will be completed by the beginning of 2027.
Emergency drill
Please be aware that our school is due to conduct an emergency lockdown or evacuation drill this fortnight. As always, a message will be posted to School Bytes at the commencement of the drill. Classes should be disrupted for no more than 20 minutes.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
Each year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). This data collection does not identify individual students, but does assist government in planning supports required by schools, and informs the allocation of a portion of funding to schools. For further information, please navigate to the NCCD section of this newsletter.
Parent survey
Please consider taking 5 minutes to complete the parent feedback survey for our school. A link was sent via School Bytes recently and a reminder with the link will be provided through School Bytes tonight.
