Stage 1
A message from Stage 1
It has been a busy few weeks of learning and excitement in Stage 1. One of the highlights was a visit from author Susea Spray, who shared her incredible adventures living on a sailboat and sailing around the world. Students were fascinated by her stories and enjoyed learning how her real-life experiences inspired the children's books she writes. The visit sparked curiosity, creativity, and plenty of questions from our young learners about travel, writing, and life at sea.
After studying animals and writing information report for the past few weeks, Stage 1 have now moved to writing procedures.
We are learning to:
The purpose of procedural texts
How to structure a procedural text
Language features of procedural texts
We are successful when:
In mathematics groups, students have been working to develop their understanding of measurement, addition, and subtraction. Through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks, they have been exploring ways to measure and compare lengths, capacities, and masses, while also building confidence in using efficient strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems. It has been wonderful to see students explaining their thinking and applying their learning to real-world situations.
In history, students have continued their fascinating journey into the ancient world. They have explored remarkable landmarks and achievements of ancient civilisations, including the Roman Colosseum, the Parthenon in Ancient Greece, and the origins of the Olympic Games. Through engaging discussions, research, and hands-on activities, students have gained a deeper understanding of how these ancient societies have influenced the world we live in today. Their curiosity and enthusiasm for uncovering the past have made this a particularly exciting unit of learning.
