Take Flight - Senior School

On Monday the 2nd of February, the year six cohort went to Forest Edge camp. When we reached the camp, we were taken on a tour of the area and then got straight into our activities and our activity groups. After our activities, we were allocated into our cabins, and had supper. Sleep was probably the hardest part of the camp.
We had lots of activities, including rock climbing, archery, river sledding and hut building. The majority of people think that river sledding was the best activity because it was really hot there and it was cool and refreshing to float lazily down the river. One downside was for the groups who did this activity when it was cold. The water was freezing and made your feet numb and felt like they were going to fall off! Archery was also a favourite to others especially because there was shade and also targets in different ranges so you could aim for an easier one. For nearly all the activities, the only thing that was REALLY annoying were the flies.
For the first night, it was still light out so all the year sixes went on the oval to play a bunch of games in activity groups, including an egg and spoon race and poison ball. On the second night we participated in a Dutch Auction. If you’re ever lucky enough to go on camp with Mr Bacon, you might be able to learn all about what happens in a Dutch Auction. It’s super fun.
On the last day we all were feeling bittersweet and VERY tired and sore. We did two more activities then ate lunch before getting on the bus to go home. We had to go in two buses instead of three because one bus broke down. The ride back was calm as lots of people slept. As we arrived back at school, we all were very excited to see our parents. Even though we were REALLY tired, we had to roll our heavy luggages to the senior basketball court. After that, our parents collected us and went home to a well-deserved rest.
We just want to say a massive thanks to all of the teachers that came to camp with us. We also want to say thank you to all the teachers who helped organise camp, especially Mr Smith.
