West Gate Tunnel - Discovery Day

The West Gate Tunnel is nearly complete, and Discovery Day is your once-in-a- generation opportunity to run or walk parts of the tunnel before it opens to traffic later this year. 

 

Discovery Day will take place on Sunday 16 November. In addition to the walk and run, there’s also food, entertainment and free family-friendly activities for the kids hosted at Yarraville Gardens.

 

Spots are limited - register early to secure your place!

 

Key dates:

 

Local Community registration (access code required) opens: Monday 20 October 2025 at 9am

 

General Public registration opens: Friday 24 October 2025 at 9am

 

Event date: Sunday 16 November 2025.

Paid Run (8km) – 7am - 8am

An exclusive 8km run, through the West Gate Tunnel and elevated freeway.

 

The run registration fee is $58 pp (+$4.40 for bib postage).

 

The registration fee will raise funds for our charity partners: Community Bike Hub and West Welcome Wagon, supporting their work in the community.

 

Refunds are not available unless the run is cancelled.

 

Minimum age for runners is 10 years old.

 

Younger children can be registered as a pram/stroller participant at no additional cost.

 

Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Choose your wave time when registering.

Free Walk (2.5km) – 10am - 5pm

A family-friendly, accessible 2.5km walk through the West Gate Tunnel and closed roads.

The walk is free to attend.

 

There are no age restrictions but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

All participants must be registered to take part.

The Music Bus has opened their Term 4 enrolments, and are inviting new students to apply. 

 

Classes offered are:

 

  • Keyboard (Prep-Y6)

  • Ukulele (Prep-Y6)

  • Drums (Y1-Y6)

  • Guitar (Y2-Y6)

 

Lessons are for 30 minutes, once per week, held in the hi-tech music classroom on wheels on school grounds.

 

Cost: $22 per week ($24 drums), payable by the term on commencement.

If you are a parent/carer and have agreed to Volunteer at Williamstown North Primary School (this can be reading in the classroom, assisting with excursions and camps, helping out at events, working bees, in the Canteen, etc.), please read the Induction presentation below, and complete your details via the QR Code. We take our students' safety seriously, and require all volunteers to be formerly inducted. Volunteers must be inducted prior to working onsite.
