Principal's message

It is hard to believe we are already at the end of Week 7, with plenty still to look forward to before the end of term.

Our court line marking will be completed in Week 8, ready for students to begin using the resurfaced courts again. We are very excited to see this project reaching the final stage.

In Week 7 we will celebrate Book Week, culminating in our Book Week Parade on Friday. We are looking forward to seeing the creativity of our students and staff as we celebrate books, characters and reading.

Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support focus for the next two weeks is GRIT. Students will be encouraged to persist with challenges, learn from mistakes and keep trying when things are difficult.

Weeks 8 and 9 will also include some exciting learning opportunities, with visits from RACV Safety Squad and Life Ed, as well as our upcoming Geelong excursion.

We are also looking forward to our Father’s Day Breakfast on Friday 4 September and welcoming dads, grandfathers and other special people to join us.

Celebrating Our 2026 NAPLAN Results

We have received our 2026 NAPLAN results, with some fantastic achievements to celebrate.

  • Year 3 Reading: 75% Strong or Exceeding
  • Year 3 Writing: 100% Strong or Exceeding
  • Year 5 Reading: 78% Strong or Exceeding
  • Year 5 Writing: 89% Strong or Exceeding

These are excellent results, above state levels, and a wonderful reflection of the hard work of our students and staff, and our continued focus on literacy across the school.

Parent, Carer and Guardian Opinion Survey

The annual Parent, Carer and Guardian Opinion Survey will be opening soon. The survey gives families an opportunity to share feedback about our school and helps inform future planning and school improvement.

Please see Compass for further details and information about how to participate.

There is plenty to look forward to over the next few weeks, and I am looking forward to seeing our students make the most of all the opportunities ahead.

Thank you, as always, for your support of our school. My door is always open if you'd like to chat.

We have a Facebook page - please be sure to follow us to see the adventures that happen at Alvie!

Warm regards
