Principal's message

Hello Alvie families,

We’re heading into the last week of term, and it’s certainly been a busy one! A big thank you to Sage, Bianca, Jess and Josh for organising and running the P–2 Sleepover. The students had such a wonderful time, and I’m sure everyone will be happy to get back into their own beds tonight. It’s fantastic that we can provide this experience as a stepping stone towards our broader camps program.

At this time of year, a few bugs are doing the rounds – gastro, sniffles, coughs, head lice and worms. Please help us by reminding your children about the importance of good personal hygiene, such as washing hands, covering coughs and not sharing hats. If your child is unwell, we ask that they stay home until they’re feeling better (after head lice treatment and 24 hours after gastro symptoms finish). This helps us to keep our school community healthy.

We're excited that the Warrion Flower Show is coming up on Tuesday 21st October. We're hosting a produce stall and keen for you to contribute. We're looking for herbs (either dried or fresh so we can dry them ), bunches of flowers, bags of pine cones, bundles of kindling, fruit and veg from yours and our gardens (during that week). Please start gathering items to contriute and contact the office with your ideas.

Next week, we have some exciting events to look forward to:

  • Working Bee - please join us 1:00-4:00pm on Sunday to prepare for the new toilets being delivered. Jobs include removing plants, demolition of glass sliding door and fences.
  • Alvie’s Got Talent will be held on Thursday afternoon from 2:15–3:15pm. Families are warmly invited to come along and enjoy the performances in the Multi space.
  • Footy Fever Day is on Friday afternoon. Parents and carers are encouraged to come and join in the fun – including a whole school, non-contact game of netball and football. The fun kicks off at 1:30pm, with an early finish at 2:15pm. Surely this year the grown-ups will win!

Important update- School Council agreed to move our next Pupil Free day to Monday 3rd November (the day before Melbourne Cup). Please update this in your calendars. A reminder that we also have a Pupil Free Day (report writing) on Friday 5th December.

Thank you for your support throughout the term, I will be continuing as Acting Principal next term and the process to appoint a new Principal will occur.

Have a wonderful, restorative weekend and holidays everyone!

Lisa Peirce
