THE FINAL EXPERIMENT! || Our Year 12 Chemistry students just wrapped up their final experiment for the year with a fascinating titration! They diligently worked on determining the concentration of ascorbic acid in Vitamin C tablets, showcasing their skills and knowledge in the lab.

COMMUNITY FOOTY DAY || Great to see our students showing support once again for the amazing Better Health Network community footy day today. They shone brightly while leading drills and activities for the Adult Community Options Disability Day Program, spreading joy and inclusivity.

CELEBRATING SUCCESS || Term 4 has commenced on a high note with our ‘Strive’ and ‘Rising Star’ awards to honour our dedicated students. Congratulations to all and a special shout-out to our talented musicians for their amazing performances! We are grateful that Zoe Daniel MP was able to join us to present the awards. It was wonderful to have the parents of our awardees in attendance, sharing in this special moment of recognition. Congratulations also to Ricketts, who were announced as the winners of the 2024 House Athletics Carnival. We also learned about the wonderful upcoming activities from the Climate Action Group and heard some inspiring words from Mr Peter Bartlett (Acting Principal).

VCE PSYCHOLOGY SLEEP LABS || At the end of last term, our Unit 3/4 Psychology students unlocked the secrets of sleep science with Monash University’s Turner Institute VCE Psychology Sleep Program! A volunteer student was wired up to a portable sleep diagnostic device so the class could observe their brain waves (EEG), eye movements (EOG), heart rate (ECG) and muscle tone (EMG) in real time!

MATHS BOARD GAME MAKING || To wrap up Term 3, our Year 7 students put their knowledge of fractions, decimals and probability to the test by creating their own board games! It was a fun and interactive way to finish the term!

YEAR 8 JAPANESE COOKING || Today, our Year 8 Japanese students showcased their culinary skills by preparing Japanese Chicken Curry Rice! They've been learning to read recipes and ingredients in Japanese, making their cooking experience both educational and delicious!

COMBINING STUDIES & CRAFTING SOLUTIONS || Macy C, one of our talented Year 12 VCE General students, is combining her studies with a Certificate II in Building and Construction (Carpentry) at Holmesglen. She has gone above and beyond by volunteering her skills to design and build a new stand for the light weights in our Fitness Centre, replacing the broken one. Well done, Macy!

SENIOR SUNRISE || This morning, our Year 12 students gathered on the Northern Oval at 6:40am for a beautiful sunrise and breakfast, marking the beginning of their final week at Beaumaris Secondary College!

CELEBRATING WORLD HABITAT WEEK || Last week, our amazing Climate Action Team celebrated World Habitat Week with several lunchtime activities. These included a sausage sizzle that raised approximately $250 for Wildlife Victoria, Bee Bundle-building, sowing native seedlings, and a David Attenborough movie screening. A huge thank you to everyone who purchased a sausage or two to support this wonderful cause!

UNPACKING THE FALLIBILITY OF TASTE PERCEPTION || Last term, our Year 11 Psychology students delved into an intriguing study on how packaging affects our perception of cola taste. Their findings revealed that past experiences of tasting Coke had a bigger impact on perception than the packaging, with both conditions ranking: 1. Pepsi 2. Coke 3. Home brand cola.

HOT POTATO BAND || Yesterday, our VCE Music students had an amazing experience participating in an Ensemble Masterclass with the Sydney-based brass band ‘Hot Potato Band’! The band also put on a fantastic performance for our Year 7 & 8 students as part of the Create Performance Music curriculum. A fabulous opportunity to inspire and enjoy live music!

SENIOR GIRLS CRICKET TEAM MAKES HISTORY IN STATE SEMI FINALS || Our Senior Girls Cricket team made school history, reaching the State Semi Finals for the first time! Competing against Sport Academy schools, including Rowville, Maribyrnong, and SEDA, was an incredible achievement. While SEDA proved too strong, the girls had a brilliant day. A special mention to Amelie O for her leadership, and to those making their first-ever cricket runs! Today also marked Amelie's final match for us—she's been our school’s best cricketer, and we wish her all the best in her future cricketing pursuits.

EXPLORING BIOLOGY AT THE ZOO || Over the past two days, our Unit 2 VCE Biology students have had the opportunity to explore the Melbourne Zoo, engaging in the 'Adaptations for Survival' program. Students delved into the fascinating world of bioethics and organism adaptations, gaining valuable insights into biology in action.
