Acting Principal's Report

Welcome to Term 4!

As we embark upon the start of an exciting Term 4, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all our students and families. As Acting Principal this term, I look forward to working closely with our dedicated staff, students and parents. Together, we will continue to foster a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Rising Star & Strive Awards

Term 4 has kicked off on an inspiring note with our Strive and Rising Star awards, celebrating the dedication and endeavour of our students. Congratulations to all award recipients! We were honoured to have Zoe Daniel MP present the awards, and it was wonderful to see the parents of our awardees in attendance.

Farewell Year 12

As we conclude this week, we celebrate the wonderful Class of 2024 and all that they have achieved during their time at the college. This year has been filled with hard work, growth and wonderful memories. Each student has made a unique contribution to our community, and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments.

As they prepare to embark on the next chapter of their lives, we encourage them to carry forward the skills and values they have developed here. The opportunities that lie ahead are endless, and the friendships and experiences gained during their time with us will be cherished for years to come.

We are looking forward to the official Graduation ceremony to be held at the MCG next week, where we will honour the achievements of the Class of 2024. They will be greatly missed, and we extend our best wishes for their future endeavours. We also look forward to their continued involvement with the college as active and engaged alumni.

VCE Media, Arts & Design Exhibition

Last week's VCE Media, Arts & Design Exhibition was a tremendous success. A special thank you goes to Emily O'Keefe and the team for their hard work in organising this fantastic event. It was inspiring to see the remarkable projects and achievements of our students on display. For more photos from the exhibition, please check the VCE Media, Arts & Design Exhibition page of this newsletter.

Regional Athletics

We are thrilled to celebrate our outstanding athletes who performed exceptionally well at Regional Athletics last week. Congratulations to those advancing to the state level—a wonderful achievement. For a complete list of results, please check Our Latest Facebook/Instagram Posts page of this newsletter.

School for Student Leadership

Last Sunday, four of our Year 9 students—Zali L, Hartley M, Yianni S and Poppy T—set off for the School for Student Leadership at the Gnurad-Gundidj Campus, where they will spend the next nine weeks honing their leadership skills. We wish them all the best in this exciting opportunity and look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return.

Community Footy Day

On the last day of Term 3, some of our Year 9 students continued our wonderful tradition of supporting the Better Health Network by conducting football drills and activities for the Adult Community Options Disability Day Program for the third consecutive year. Once again, it was a rewarding experience for everyone involved, and the students were thrilled to receive lovely handmade thank you cards from the participants.

Seniors Girls Cricket

The Senior Girls Cricket team made history by advancing to the State Semi Finals for the very first time. Competing against highly competitive Sport Academy schools, the girls demonstrated exceptional teamwork and spirit.

I’d like to particularly acknowledge Amelie O. This match marked her final appearance representing Beaumaris Secondary College, closing a fantastic chapter in her journey of not only school, but State level participation. We wish her continued success in her future cricketing endeavours, which you can read more about on the Student Success page of this newsletter.

Building Works

During the school holidays, the Senior Centre was soundproofed in preparation for the upcoming exams. A special thank you to Kyle Gennissen and Baden Mooney from Maintenance for their hard work on this.

World Habitat Week

Last week, our dedicated Climate Action Team marked World Habitat Week with a series of engaging lunchtime events. Activities featured a successful sausage sizzle that raised around $250 for Wildlife Victoria, as well as Bee Bundle-building, planting native seedlings, and a screening of a David Attenborough documentary. Thank you to Dawn MacGregor for her leadership throughout these initiatives, and to everyone who supported this fantastic cause by purchasing sausages.

Melbourne Marathon Running Festival

It is wonderful to see our staff modelling an active lifestyle. Congratulations to Luke Delecca, Mary-Claire Leith, Niamh Murphy, Cameron Dickie, Sam Trevethan, Ruby Aust, Austin Deneys and Sean Leith for their fantastic achievements this past weekend, participating in the Melbourne Marathon Running Festival.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our school community. We are looking forward to a wonderful term 4.
