A Huge Thank You Scotsburn!!!

We have made it to the end of a super busy term. Obviously the concert took up a huge chunk of our time, however there was so much more happening around the place -  5/6 Halls Gap camp, scholarships, excursions, Fathers’ Day stall and breakfast, Principal for a Day, EBT training, Japan trip, 100 days of school and scholarships, just to name a few! There has been incredible classroom learning mixed in there as well, which will be on show tomorrow night at our Celebration of Learning. 

From the Scotsburn staff we want to say a massive thank you to each and every one of our wonderful students, for making each day a joy to be at school. A huge thank you also to our parent community, who continue to provide us with unwavering support and assistance.

Scotsburn is a very special community, relying on a team approach, consistently working in a united direction to achieve the successes that we do. THANK YOU!!!

We hope that everyone can enjoy a safe and happy break, and we look forward to seeing you all at the commencement of Term 4!

Bunjil Award Winners

Congratulations to our Bunjil Award winners from last week:

Mr and Mrs Morgan Long Service Leave

For the first two weeks of Term 4, Mr and Mrs Morgan will be on long service leave. Mrs Cooper will be teaching in SC2 while they are away. Mrs Cooper is very familiar with Scotsburn and our students, spending lots of time in SC2 in previous years. We can’t wait to welcome her back. 

For these two weeks if you need to contact the school for any reason, please direct enquiries to our Scotsburn staff, Mr Conlan or the Buninyong office. 

Celebration of Learning - Tomorrow, Wednesday September 16

Tomorrow, Wednesday 16th September, Scotsburn will host our Term 3 Celebration of Learning. This will take place at the Scotsburn Campus, between 5pm and 7pm. The purpose of this evening is to provide students with the opportunity to reflect on and share their learning, celebrating their amazing learning achievements with their parents and carers. It also provides a wonderful opportunity for our parents and carers to get a first-hand insight into what their child is getting up to in all areas of their schooling.

Over the night, students and parents will be able to walk in and out of all learning spaces, which will be showcasing lots of different learning that has taken place this term/year. There will also be the opportunity for parents, guardians and students to participate in some interactive activities. 

The campus will be running a BBQ on the night, $3.50 per sausage. Make sure to bring some coins and come and grab a snag or two!

We would love all families and students to attend - we can’t wait to see you there!

Lawson at Division Athletics

Congratulations to Lawson who participated last week in the Division Athletics at Llanberris Reserve. Lawson competed in hurdles and relay, placing 3rd and 4th in his both events. An amazing effort Lawson - we are all proud of you!

Home Reading

A huge thank you to all our families that have continued to support their child with reading at home. A huge congratulations to Adele, Fraser and Alana who achieved another home reading certificate at last week’s assembly - what an achievement!

Kelly Sports Badminton

Over the past month we have been lucky enough to have Kelly Sport come in and teach both classes lots of badminton skills. The students have loved these sessions and improved their skills. Thanks, Mrs Morgan, for organising!

Footy Colours Day

On Friday, students are also invited to come dressed in their favourite team colours. Usually, students are asked to bring a gold coin donation on casual dress days to support a good cause. 

On footy/sports colours day, we encourage students to collect and bring along as many coins as they can.  10c represents how much it costs to provide a bowl of porridge to a student each day at school in Malawi. For many of the children, this is the only food they will have for the day. 

Whole School Assembly - Friday 18th September

This Friday we have our final whole school assembly for the term, starting the day at the Buninyong Campus. As is our usual routine, we will meet in the courtyard at 8:45am. If your child has any books to return to the library, please send them along as well. 

After assembly at Buninyong, we will bus directly to the pool, then back to Scotsburn, for a 2:30pm finish.

Holiday Animal Care

It is that time of the term again where we are putting out the offer for anyone that would be interested and has the time to assist with Pip and our chickens over the holidays. Pip the bluetongue lizard would love a holiday at someone’s house, and she is extremely low maintenance! Our chickens will stay onsite, however just need a check for eggs, water and food every few days.

If your family is interested and willing to help with Pip, please come and see Jarrod in the next few days to make arrangements.

Below is a sign-up sheet for any families who can pop in to check on food and water for the chickens. The food is kept in the door on the right-hand side of the coop. Thanks in advance!

Parent/Carer Opinion Survey - Please Complete - LAST CHANCE 

A reminder about our parent opinion survey. We would absolutely love as many of our Scotsburn families to respond to this survey, so that we can continue to celebrate all the things that we are doing well, as well as respond to any feedback where we can make improvements across the school.

All families have until  this Friday September 18 to complete the survey, with the link and details of how to complete on your Compass newsfeed. 

Surveys are conducted online, only take approximately 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.  

2027 Scotsburn Enrolments

If you know any families that are looking to enrol their child/children for 2027 (or in the foreseeable future), please complete an enrolment form and submit it to the office at Buninyong. If you have any questions, please email Jarrod at jarrod.morgan@education.vic.gov.au
