St Roch’s School theme 2026:
"United in Faith, Sharing the Light"
Dear Families,
Welcome to Issue 10 for 2026 of our iNewsletter! We hope this newsletter continues to keep you up to date with all the news, events and learning that happens at St Roch's.
We want to extend a massive thank you to all of our wonderful Prep, Year 3 & 4 and Year 5 & 6 families who rolled up their sleeves and supported our working bee on Sunday! The incredible community spirit on display was truly inspiring and it was fantastic to see everyone working together to beautify and improve our school grounds.
From clearing garden beds to sweeping sand and tanbark, your hard work and enthusiasm have made a massive difference for our students. It was wonderful to wrap up a productive day by connecting over a delicious BBQ lunch together. We are incredibly grateful for your time, energy and ongoing partnership in making our school a brighter, safer and more vibrant place to learn and play!
Sincere thanks to Dave Crew for mowing in the early morning and for preparing everything for the day, to Leah and Chris Scheggia for organising the delicious sausage sizzle and to all of the following families and students (past & present) who supported in so many ways:
Mynard, Crew, Saliba, Setiawan, Fatovic, Arthur, Sayers, Connellan, Thaniotis, Nichols, Joyce, Diaz, Scheggia, Mathias-Coleiro, Fernando, Ivancic, Lynch, Guiney and any we missed along the way!!
Thank you to all students and families who connected during this Working Bee!!
As we bring Term 2 and the first semester of the school year to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on and celebrate the incredible journey we have shared over the past six months. It has been a remarkably busy, productive and rewarding semester and I am immensely proud of everything our school community has achieved.
First and foremost, my heartfelt thanks go to our dedicated teaching and support staff. Their unwavering commitment to providing an excellent education for our students is evident every single day.
This dedication was particularly on display during our recent Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences. The detailed, constructive and excellent feedback they provided to families is a testament to how deeply they know and care for each student's academic and personal growth. We thank our staff for their tireless energy, professionalism and passion and wish them a well deserved break at the end of this break.
To our parents, carers and families, thank you for your vibrant community spirit and incredible engagement throughout this semester. Whether you were attending school events, volunteering your time, or actively participating in the learning journey during classroom help, excursions or our recent conferences, your partnership is what makes our school thrive.
“Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents.”
The strong connection between home and school is the foundation of our students' success and we are incredibly grateful for your ongoing trust and support.

Semester One Highlights Assembly
What a spectacular showcase of learning we were blessed to witness on Friday at our Highlights Assembly! A massive thank you to Nadine Bolton and Toni Allen for leading such a superb event, flawlessly supported by our Year 6 SRC Leaders, Aira, Rose and Harriet and our wonderful Semester One Class SRC representatives.
We were thoroughly entertained and inspired from start to finish. The 45 minutes flew by as we marvelled at confident Italian conversations, impressive STEM projects, sporting achievements and a beautiful performance by Mrs O'Gorman's Singing Club. Hearing those songs certainly took me on a delightful trip down memory lane to my own childhood! We were also completely bedazzled by the stunning student art pieces reflecting our theme, United in Faith, Sharing the Light, which left us all wanting more and eagerly looking forward to this year’s School Art Show on Friday, 9 October. It was a truly brilliant celebration of our students' diverse talents.

As we close the chapter on this semester, we send our warmest and most heartfelt wishes to the Nagle Family - Jacqui, Mark, Grace and, of course, our wonderful Conor (Year 1)—as they prepare for their upcoming move.
We are going to deeply miss the entire family’s presence in our community. It has been incredibly hard to say goodbye to Conor, who is transitioning to a Specialist School this week. Conor, your bright smile and spirit have brought so much joy to our classrooms and playground.
