College Psychologist
I am pleased to advise that from the beginning of Term Three we will have Dr Kathryn Edgeworth onsite as College Psychologist for two days a week. Kathryn is a highly qualified educator and lecturer who has recently moved into student psychology. Her counselling will be a welcome addition to a suite of support for students which now includes:
subsidised ed. psych testing through Educational Psychologist Libby Whiting
visiting psychologist Amanda Guilfoyle, and
Dr Kathryn Edgeworth – onsite counselling two days each week.
We look forward to welcoming Kathyrn and to her contribution to the wellbeing and support of our students.
Current Year 8-11 Explore and Emerge Curriculum Night – Wednesday 24 June
I encourage families with students in Year 8 through to Year 11 to attend next week’s Explore and Emerge Curriculum Information Night, beginning at 6:30pm in the Kantor Family Music and Performing Arts Centre. The night will provide an opportunity for you to speak with teachers in the subject areas you might be interested in, as well as give an overview of the subject selection process and timelines.
Students and families have been sent the 2027 Explore and Emerge Curriculum Guide yesterday, and I encourage you to read through that and the accompanying letter from Anna Robertson. I will also use the evening introduce and speak to the new set of global co-curricular trips and opportunities available across the next two years to students in Years 10-12 in 2027 and 2028.
Examinations
And finally, well done to students in Years 7-11 on the way in which they approached their recent examinations. They can be a stressful time for some students and are, unapologetically, a challenge and hard test. When conducted in a supportive and conscious way, stressful challenges can be useful and formative for young people. I was pleased with the way in which all students approached their exams and the rigour they applied to their revision. Well done.
