Our Semester One Parent-Teacher Interviews commenced on Tuesday afternoon and will conclude next Wednesday afternoon. They provide a valuable opportunity for families and teachers to work together in supporting Junior School learning and wellbeing. These meetings allow parents and carers to gain insight into their child's academic progress, strengths, and areas for growth, while also learning about their engagement, social development, and classroom experiences. Interviews strengthen a strong partnership between home and the Junior School. Parent/teacher interviews are also an opportunity to celebrate achievements and recognise effort. Acknowledging successes builds student confidence and motivation, while constructive conversations about challenges help identify strategies for future growth. I thank Junior School classroom and specialist teachers for their efforts in hosting these meetings.
On Tuesday morning, I had the great pleasure of accompanying the Junior School Chamber Singers, Mrs. Christie and Mrs. Salt to the Mulleraterong Centre for a small concert. The Chamber Singers performed for the Mulleraterong clients and staff. It was a joyful 20-minute musical journey through the Chamber Singers repertoire of songs; one which was very well received. Mulleraterong supports members of the Hamilton community with conditions such as intellectual disability, autism, down syndrome, fragile x syndrome, foetal alcohol syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Rett syndrome, premature birth and childhood brain injury. It was a wonderful community connection. The visit linked beautifully with our school values of respect and compassion.
Rosie Bell (Year 4) - “I think the Mulleraterong students and staff really enjoyed listening to our songs”.
Penelope Copley (Year 6) - “It made me feel good performing for the students and giving them joy.”

In early Term Three, the ICAS Competition English, Mathematics and Spelling papers will be held for students across 41 countries. ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) has been running for over 40 years. Year 2-6 classroom teachers have selected two to three students per subject to sit the papers, based on standardised testing and their ongoing classroom assessments. Families have been notified if their child has been selected. Parents will again have the option to enrol their children. There is a fee of $21.95 per assessment.
Please contact Mrs. Natalie Povey at the Junior School Reception by Wednesday 24 June, if you would like to enrol your child in one or more of the English, Mathematics or Spelling tests. npovey@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au
