English

In English, we have been diving into the world of narrative writing! We have been exploring the different parts of a story and learning how to plan our ideas to make sure our writing has an engaging beginning, a problem and an exciting ending. After reading Jetty Jumping, we have had some wonderful discussions about how authors bring their stories to life. We have been focusing on using interesting adjectives to describe characters, settings and events, helping our readers picture exactly what is happening in our stories. We are excited to see these ideas come to life in our own writing!

Humanities

In Humanities, we have been learning about possum skin cloaks and their cultural significance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We have explored how symbols and designs can tell stories and represent important people, places and connections. Students have put their creativity to work by designing their own possum skin cloaks, using meaningful symbols to represent the people, places and things that are important to them. It has been a wonderful opportunity for students to share a little about themselves and discover how art can be used to express identity, culture and connection.
