Parent Helpers - we need you
A number of school events late last term and early term 2 have struggled to get support from Parent Helpers.
We need you.
I know that many parents work full time, but if you have any availability to assist the school as a Parent Helper, to allow us to balance out ratios and support the conduct of event, please volunteer. It is very much appreciated.
TeamKids
The care program offer by TeamKids is going from strength to strength and their program is expanding with a variety of outstanding activities. If you have a flat out work schedule, please consider using TeamKids - your child will be cared for, fed and entertained by Imandi and her team.
Leave
Informing the community that I will be taking 5 weeks of Long Service Leave, from Monday 11th May to Friday 12 June. I am off on a trip in my caravan to the Flinders Ranges.
In my absence, Kellie Stewart will be Acting Principal and Scott Zachariassen the Assistant Principal. To back-fill some of the vacancies, Mrs Gray will also be stepping out of the classroom and will be replaced by Mrs Gail Winada in 2GF for three days a week and Mr Ryan Samual will take the Wednesday PE classes for Mr Zach.
Important Reminders / notes:
Absences and Late Arrivals: Please don't forget to advise the school of your child's absence or late arrival (if after 9.25am). This can be done by ringing the school at any time and leaving a message on the answering service or using the SENTRAL app.
Otherwise you will get an email requesting information about your child's absence by 9.25am. I helps reduce the admin load and concern for parents if we are informed before we send the email.

Art Show and Open night Expo
We’re excited to invite JPPS families and the wider community to our Art Show and Open Night Expo on Wednesday 20th May.
The Art Show will proudly be presenting artwork from every student across the school and is open from 3.30 - 4pm and 5.15 - 6.45pm in the Gym. A key feature of the Art Show is always the Silent Auction where parents can bid on a piece of artwork created by each level — don’t miss the chance to place your bids and take home a special piece of student learning!
Our extra‑curricular activities will be on show, giving families the chance to learn more about the many programs your children can get involved in. The theme for this years Education Week is 'Showcase your school'. Some of the programs we are showcasing will include our Sustainability program, JP Racing, Wakakirri and Junior School Council. There will also be interactive Literacy, Numeracy, Digi Tech and Mandarin displays and exhibitions.
Families are encouraged to visit as many exhibitions as possible and can take part in a fun challenge by scanning at least 8 QR codes to go into the draw to win Mona Lisa parody cards.
Jells Park Parents Committee will be running a delicious sausage sizzle, with options catering for dietary requirements, and there will be an ice‑cream truck from 5pm.
Student performances in the gym -
5.15pm Whole School Choir
6.00pm SSS choir and Aeorbics team performances
We look forward to welcoming our community for an evening of celebration, creativity and connection!
There will be more details sent about this event and others happening during Education week. Keep an eye on your inbox!
Canteen – feedback wanted (reminder)
We are currently seeking parent feedback about our school canteen services, as we are exploring the possibility of changing our provider in 2027. Your insights are important to us and will help guide future decisions. Please submit any comments or suggestions in writing to kellie.stewart@education.vic.gov.au
Have a wonderful weekend!
