Assistant Principal

Welcome back to a new year of learning at Mitcham Primary School! We hope all families enjoyed a safe and refreshing break and are feeling energised for the year ahead. A new school year always brings a sense of excitement, possibility and growth, and we are looking forward to working together to make 2026 a positive and successful year for every child.
Our Community Evening on Thursday 5th February was a fantastic way to kick off the year. Families came together to visit classrooms, meet staff and reconnect with one another in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The evening was buzzing with excitement as our first fundraising event for the year got underway, with sausages in bread and drinks enjoyed by many. Students and families also had great fun participating in the tabloid sports activities, which added plenty of energy, laughter and friendly competition to the afternoon. It was wonderful to see such strong community spirit on display, and we thank everyone who joined us and helped make the event such an engaging and memorable start to the year.
As we settle into routines, we kindly remind families of the importance of students wearing hats each day to protect them from the sun, particularly during outdoor learning and play.
We also ask for your support in ensuring students arrive at school on time, as punctuality helps children feel settled and ready to learn, and maximises valuable learning time in the classroom.
We look forward to a fantastic year ahead, filled with learning, growth and shared successes. Thank you for your ongoing support of our Mitcham Primary School community.
Warm Regards,
Bron Steele
