Friday 6th February
It has been a truly wonderful start to the school year, and it is fabulous to see our students return with smiling faces, ready to learn and reconnect. A highlight of the week was Thursday evening’s community event. It was fantastic to meet so many families, both new and familiar, and to see our school grounds filled with laughter and conversation.
An enormous thank you to our amazing Parents and Friends and Teachers for their tremendous efforts in organising the BBQ and supporting Miss Ellis in running the tabloid sports. Your energy and generosity helped create such a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.
Leah, Renee and Tara, our Fundraising Coordinators, have definitely started our year off brilliantly, not only organising the sausage sizzle for our Community Afternoon, but also relaunching Icy Pole Thursday this week!
We are also very grateful to Mitcham Woolworths for their generous donation in support of the sausage sizzle, which helped make the evening such a success. The strong sense of community that makes Mitcham Primary School so special was on full display.

At Mitcham Primary School, we are committed to fostering an environment where every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. This year, our Annual Implementation Plan key focus areas will be:
Together, we aim to nurture confident, capable learners who feel valued, supported and inspired to achieve their best.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead and can not wait to see all that 2026 has in store!
It’s fantastic to see so many students riding their bikes to school. We love seeing the bike stands full each day! Riding to school is a great way to stay active and build independence.
A gentle reminder, however, that bikes are not to be ridden through the school grounds. This helps keep everyone safe, as younger students in particular may not see bikes coming or may not expect them to be moving through busy areas. We ask that all students dismount at the school gates and walk their bikes to and from the bike stands.
Thank you for helping us keep our school a safe place for everyone.
Schools provide students with free instruction to fulfil the standard Victorian curriculum, and we want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary. Nevertheless, it is a continued challenge for schools to financially support program needs to effectively operate all programs offered. Your financial contribution supports us in the delivery of rich and extensive learning programs beyond the traditional curriculum platform. Parent and community contributions are crucial to ensure we have the resources and facilities necessary to successfully provide the enhanced educational programs to the standard and quality expected by our community. Our teaching teams are dedicated in their role to deliver optimal learning opportunities for your child and your contribution further supports your child’s learning experience at Mitcham Primary School.
The financial contributions for 2026 can be made via the Compass Portal in Course Confirmations. You can also make payments for curriculum contributions either in full or part payments as nominated by you, via EFTPOS, Credit Card, or cash when you visit the school.
Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ privacy policy and the Schools’ privacy collection notice.
Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students policy, describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.
We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Google Workspace for Education safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Google Workspace for Education, please contact the school.
