Grade 5/6

We are excited to welcome our Year 5/6 students and families to a new school year! The beginning of the year is a special time as we focus on setting up our classes, building positive relationships, and establishing routines that support learning and wellbeing. Over the coming weeks, we will be spending time getting to know one another, developing a strong sense of classroom community, and creating an environment where every student feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.

As part of this process, our school will be engaging in the CHAMPS program — Creating Harmony At Mitcham Primary School. This program helps us build shared expectations around behaviour, learning, and respectful interactions. During these sessions, I will be spending lots of time getting to know your child — their strengths, interests, goals, and the unique qualities they bring to our classroom. Together, we will be working to create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning space where all students can thrive throughout the year.

5/6 Information Slides

It was so lovely meeting all of the families who came last night to the Community Afternoon event to visit their child's new classroom, meet their new teacher and participate in the activities.

The 5/6 teachers have put together some information slides for families to familiarise themselves with what happens in 5/6. This includes information about NAPLAN, Camp and reading homework expectations each week.

Please see attached the Level 5/6 Information Slides for 2026.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher.

We appreciate your ongoing support.

Kind regards,

Claire Todeschini

Grade 5/6 Team Leader
