PRINCIPAL UPDATE

We are very much looking forward to Buskers Day this Friday, 2:30-3:30pm.  The students in Grade 5 and 6 have been preparing well for this event.  Students have been asked to bring a gold coin donation that will go towards a charity, decided upon by the students.

Grade 4 enjoyed a day in the life of a secondary student yesterday, visiting Geelong High School, undertaking Cooking and PE classes.  Look forward to hearing how this went, when chatting to them today.

We are currently seeking someone to assist with paving, and the installation of a sprinkler system on the front lawn.  We need to re-lay the 125-year celebration pavers that families donated over 20 years ago, and wanting to do this at the front entrance to the school, so seeking someone experienced in this area.  We also have irrigation in this area but are keen to install a timed watering sprinkler system.  If anyone is skilled in these areas, please reach out via calling the office or emailing me at Chilwell.ps@education.vic.gov.au .  Your support would be greatly appreciated.

I am taking some Long Service Leave commencing July 2nd until August 11th.  I look forward to travelling overseas during this time, and some warmer climates!!

Sarah Jeffreys will be Acting Principal; Louisa Blamires will be Acting Assistant Principal and Steph Walsh will be joining them in the Leadership Team at this time as Learning Specialist along with other members Virginnia Gilham and Jason Cole.

If I don’t see you prior, I wish everyone a wonderful July break, and will be back early August, looking forward to an exciting Term 3.

Correspondence from City of Greater Geelong -

We are working with Geelong Regional Libraries and the Chilwell Library Group to undertake a significant redevelopment of the Chilwell Library on Russell Street, Newtown.

The redevelopment is centred on making sure that the Chilwell Library remains an intimate and community focused facility, improving integration with the park and providing additional spaces for broader community use.

With funding from the Victorian Government Living Libraries Infrastructure Program and the City’s contribution, the redevelopment construction works are scheduled to commence from Monday 7 July this year and take approximately 10 months. To facilitate the redevelopment, the library will be closed from Sunday 29 June. During this time, you’re welcome at other library locations including:

• Geelong Library & Heritage Centre (The Dome), 51 Little Malop Street Geelong

• Geelong West Library, 153A Pakington Street Geelong West

• Belmont Library 163 High Street, Belmont

• Highton Library at Roslyn Road (corner Belle Vue Avenue), Highton.
