Baseball
In an exhilarating display of teamwork and determination, the First IX Baseball team achieved a significant milestone by winning their first game of the season. The players rallied together, showcasing their skills and perseverance as they faced off against a very formidable opponent in Five Dock Falcons. With strategic plays and a few standout performances, they managed to turn the tide in their favour. As the final out was called, the joy and relief washed over the team, marking not just a victory on the scoreboard but a newfound confidence that will hopefully propel them forward in the season. Well done to all involved!
Cricket
This weekend was the first round of Thunder Cricket, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of our U13 to U16 teams. Players took to the field with a mix of nerves and excitement, eager to demonstrate their skills and teamwork. The matches were filled with thrilling moments, from impressive boundaries to spectacular catches, none more so than Lucas Sacco who made one of the best catches I have ever seen in the St Patrick’s derby where 14 Gold took on 14 Blue. Coaches and parents/carers cheered from the sidelines, creating an encouraging atmosphere that fuelled the players’ determination. As the weekend wrapped up, the young athletes left the field not just with scores, but with valuable experience and camaraderie, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
Basketball
The First V competed in the ISA Preseason Tournament at Oakhill College on Saturday. This was one final chance for teams to show what they have before the season gets underway. Our boys finished with two wins and two losses, one of which was painstakingly close. Despite not securing as many wins as they set out to achieve, it was a chance for final preparations to be made for the season ahead. Best of luck to the First V for the 2024-2025 season.
ISA Summer Season
A reminder that the ISA Summer season kicks off this Saturday 26 October. Thank you to all the staff, students, and families for all their hard work throughout the trial period. Fixtures can be found on the College website and SPC App. A reminder to all boys that when supporting your mates at fixtures you are to wear the College Supporters uniform and to focus all cheering on the positives of your mates not the negatives of other schools or officials.
Best of luck to all teams as they kick off their season! Always be aware that respect, integrity, and honour will be remembered long after the result is forgotten.
