Over the weekend, I had the privilege of watching our outstanding Year 11 Opti-MINDS team, who represented the college with distinction at the State Finals held at the University of Queensland. After winning the regional competition in the Media Communications category, the team spent the weekend competing against some of the brightest minds from across Queensland.

During the three-hour lock-up challenge, they tackled the complex topic of the integrity of news corporations, crafting a thought-provoking yet entertaining solution. On Sunday, they presented their innovative idea, “Strum the Strings, Unite the Streets” which is an entrepreneurial concept that imagined publicly accessible guitars placed in parks for anyone to enjoy.
Their creativity, teamwork, and spirit truly shone through, earning them not only the Spirit of Opti-MINDS Award but also first place in their division. A fantastic achievement and a testament to their originality and collaboration!

Our Writers’ Club has released the final edition of Communi-tea for the year. This edition is a celebration of student voice, creativity and curiosity. It features engaging articles, insightful reviews and even a sneak peek at where the library will be located during next year’s renovations!
