Year 1 and 2 ‘BIN CHICKEN’ Student Excellence Program

Some of our junior school students participated in the VCES Bin Chicken Student Excellence Program, celebrating student achievement and recognising positive choices and efforts at school. The children had a fabulous time meeting Australian author Jol Temple during a live online session, where they enjoyed listening to him share his exciting new Bin Chicken picture storybook. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with a real author…. keep an eye out for the Bin Chicken series in our school library. Here are some quotes from our students who attended the program:

Lisa 1A – I used to write normal books but after the Bin chicken session I decided to write Bin Chicken books. 

Jack K 1B – I like reading the Bin Chicken books and I have three at home. We got to make a Bin chicken at home.

Robbie – I enjoyed playing the sorting game where we had different coloured bins and we had to sort the things into the right bins.

Kabir – I liked the sorting game, and I learnt that Bin chickens have the ability to open our lunch boxes!

Henry C – I liked learning all the facts about Bin chickens from the scientist. 

Neha – We learnt that Bin chickens can open your lunch box lid and eat your lunch! And I saw a Bin chicken in Queensland and it chased me!
