What an incredible day!
CPS’s second Colour Run was another fantastic success, filled with energy and a whole lot of colour! A huge thank you to our amazing Parents and Friends Association (PFA) for their hard work and enthusiasm in bringing this much loved event to life. Their efforts, along with the support of our volunteers and wider school community, helped create a memorable experience for our students.
The day was bursting with excitement as students and staff came together to run, dance and celebrate. From the colourful powder to the bubbles, water and plenty of fun, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The weather was perfect, with everyone embracing the fun and getting into the spirit of the day.
Adding an extra sprinkle of magic to the festivities were two energetic running and dancing unicorns! These happy characters were more than happy to get involved, join in the fun and show their support for the event.

Beyond the fun, the Colour Run was a wonderful celebration of community spirit and coming together to support our school. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed their time, energy and enthusiasm to make the event such a success.
A special thank you to Kelly, Laura and Monica for their organisation ‘extraordinaire’, to Danae for her amazing balloon arch that she made on the day by hand! To all the helpers who set up, supported, and stayed back to clean up - gratitude to you all. Your efforts make a real difference to our school and help create special experiences and lasting memories for our children.
CPS’s second Colour Run was certainly one to remember, and we can’t wait to see what colourful adventures lie ahead!
At Carnegie Primary School, the safety, wellbeing and privacy of our students are paramount.
In response to the evolving digital landscape and the increasing risks associated with the misuse of online images, including AI-generated content, we are reviewing how student images are shared across our public social media platforms.
We are moving towards using non-identifiable and depersonalised imagery wherever possible. This may include photographs taken from behind, wider group shots, images that focus on learning and student work, and photographs that do not clearly identify individual students.
Additionally our newsletters will now be shared via Compass only. They will not be available online.
Our aim is to continue celebrating learning, student achievements and school life while taking proactive steps to protect our students’ privacy, identity and digital footprint.
Student images will continue to be managed in accordance with Department of Education requirements, our school’s policies and applicable consent arrangements.
Thank you for supporting our commitment to creating a safe, respectful and child-safe community, both online and offline.
We love seeing students riding their bikes and scooters to school! A friendly reminder that wearing a properly fitted and securely fastened helmet when riding a bike or scooter is a legal requirement in Victoria. Helmets are essential for reducing the risk of serious head injuries.
Please help us keep everyone safe by reminding your child to:
Students who do not wear a helmet correctly or follow these safety expectations will be required to leave their bike or scooter at school until a parent/carer collects it or brings a suitable helmet to school. This is part of our duty of care to address foreseeable safety risks and help students travel home safely.
Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe!
Another significant event across Weeks 3 and 4 is our Whole School Swimming Program, which involves an enormous amount of planning, organisation and coordination behind the scenes. From bookings and scheduling to timetabling, staffing and whole-school logistics, ensuring the program runs smoothly is no small feat!
Our first week in the pool has gone swimmingly well, with students enthusiastically participating and making the most of this valuable learning opportunity.
A special thank you goes to our PE teachers, Mr Pollard and Mr Panozzo, for their work in coordinating and supporting the program, and to Mrs Miller, whose exceptional timetabling skills have helped accommodate staff availability and ensure teachers are appropriately allocated throughout the week. This level of organisation and collaboration is essential to making our swimming program run successfully.
Thank you to everyone involved for their flexibility, teamwork and commitment!
A quick reminder that World Teachers’ Day falls on Friday, 30 October. It is a lovely opportunity to acknowledge the important work our teachers do each day. A small note, a kind word or a simple thank you from families can go a long way in making our teachers feel appreciated.
Please remember that Monday, 2 November is a Curriculum Day, with a focus on report writing. This is followed by the Melbourne Cup public holiday on Tuesday, 3 November. Please make arrangements accordingly. Team Kids will operate on the Monday for families who require care, so please ensure you book in advance.
While our focus remains firmly on finishing 2026 well, we also need to keep a focus on the year ahead. Planning for 2027 is already underway, and there are a few important things we need families to help us with.
Student enrolments for 2027
If your family is planning to leave Carnegie at the end of this year, I ask that you contact the office as a matter of urgency to let us know. Having an accurate picture of our 2027 enrolments is critical as we begin planning classes, staffing and resources for next year. Unless we hear otherwise, we will assume your child is returning to CPS in 2027.
Similarly, if you have a younger child who is due to start Prep in 2027 and you have not yet submitted an enrolment application, please contact the office as soon as possible. We are beginning to plan our Prep transition sessions and need to have a clear understanding of our incoming students.
2027 Class Placements
We have also begun the process of placing students into classes for 2027. This is an important process that takes considerable thought and consideration, with the aim of creating balanced classes that support the learning, wellbeing and needs of all students. We appreciate your understanding as we work through this process.
As always, thank you for your support and for helping us ensure we are well prepared for a positive start to 2027, while continuing to make the most of the remainder of this school year.
