Cultural Groups
At St Nicholas, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students take part in Cultural Immersion lessons led by the Aboriginal Education Assistants. Every fortnight, they explore a new topic that celebrates Aboriginal culture, history, and traditions, strengthening their knowledge, identity, and connection to Country.
Our Cultural Group students have commenced the process of developing their Cultural Plans alongside our Aboriginal Education Assistants (AEAs), who are providing guidance and support as students reflect on their culture, identity, strengths, aspirations and goals.
We are also looking forward to partnering with families throughout this important process. Information about Cultural Plans will be shared with parents and carers, providing an opportunity to contribute valuable insights and perspectives to help ensure each student’s plan reflects their unique identity, aspirations and cultural connections.
We greatly appreciate the support and engagement of our families and look forward to continuing to work together to celebrate, strengthen and support our students’ cultural journeys.
Student Spotlight
On Sunday, 23 August, four of our Aboriginal students, Rylee French, Sophia Wadwell, Alexia Graf and Hallie Emery, had the wonderful opportunity to compete in the Tamworth Netball Koori Gala Day.
The girls played five games while proudly representing their culture, displaying a wonderful attitude, strong teamwork, and commitment throughout the day.
It was fantastic to see them having so much fun, building new friendships and enjoying the sense of community and connection the day provided.
We are incredibly proud of you all.
