Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision, determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Mass for Mary

Last Friday we celebrated our namesake, Mary, on her birthday with a beautiful whole school Mass in the Marian Centre.

We were very blessed to have Fr John Paul from St Mel’s as our celebrant. As part of our entrance procession, one student from each grade brought forth a special symbol of Mary, creating a beautiful and meaningful beginning to our celebration.

Our Sacramental Students did a wonderful job taking on the readings and assisting with the many special roles throughout the Mass.

Our school community joined together in prayer, and the singing was absolutely wonderful. Fr John Paul was very impressed by everyone’s reverence, participation and beautiful singing.

It was a very special celebration of Mary and a wonderful reminder of our faith and the beautiful community we share.

Happy Birthday, Mary!

Sacramental Lessons: Confirmation

Last week our Confirmation Candidates gathered together and took part in a specific day of learning about the Sacrament of Confirmation. All students used the text, Becoming Catholic which they were presented with at mass a few weeks ago. Our candidates were well behaved and very engaged. We finished the day with a visit to the church, where the candidates  asked many, many questions!

Our Image of God- Along the Track article

The latest edition of Along the Track entitled “Our Image of God” is attached below. Sir Ken Robinson was an extraordinary educationalist – a recognised authority on creativity in education and a great storyteller. Among his many stories he included this one. A little girl was in a drawing lesson, she was 6 and she was at the back, drawing, and the teacher said this little girl hardly paid attention, and in this drawing lesson she did. The teacher was fascinated, and she went over and asked, “What are you drawing?” and the girl said, “I’m drawing a picture of God.” The teacher said, “But nobody knows what God looks like.” And the girl said, “They will in a minute.”
