Dear Parents and Carers
What a fabulous term of learning and growth Term Three has been! There have been so many opportunities for our students this term, from athletics to our wonderful school performance of the musical ‘Seussical the Musical’ last week! We are so proud of all our students, no matter how small or big the role they played, each and every person contributed to the success of the show. I'm sure our students will look back on this experience years from now and cherish the memories made.
Jane Viola and myself attended the Flourishing Learners Conference by MACS last Tuesday at Marvel Stadium. It was a great day of learning and feeling affirmed in our journey as a school so far!
We attended workshops by Bronwyn Ryrie Jones who talked about codifying our practices with precision. My key take away from her session was that schools serve two purposes:
1. To secure great progress and achievement for every child and
2. Produce great teachers.
We attended the session by Dylan Williams from the UK who opened our eyes to formative assessment in an AI world!
We also listened to some keynotes from Tom Sherrington on Cold Calling which was again very engaging! We have been trialling a lot of these strategies with our students this term.
Archbishop Comensoli led us in reflection on the two young people Carlos Acutiz and Pier Giorgio Frassati who were recently canonised by Pope Leo and he talked about the role that schools played in the lives of these two Saints. He reminded educators that schools must constantly have a deep sense of purpose in all the work that is done. It was a wonderful thing to reflect on during Production week!
As Term Three comes to an end, I would like to thank our students, families and the community for the trust you place in us with your child’s education. We are extremely lucky to have a team of extremely dedicated educators who deeply care about their work and the students.
Have a wonderful break, get plenty of rest and enjoy the beautiful spring weather.
Kind regards
Glennis Kerr
