Principal's Report

Student Reports and Progress

This Friday, mid-year reports will be published via Compass, providing insights into your child’s progress along the Victorian Curriculum F–10 continuum. As a result of this term’s industrial action full descriptive comments are not included in this report. The Semester 1 Report provides you with an understanding of what your child has achieved, measured against the Victorian Curriculum. The Victorian Curriculum is structured as a single continuum, organised by levels, not years of schooling or student age. The progress of each child’s development is different, and the rate and pace of learning is not fixed or constant. We celebrate achievement based on the learning of the individual child, rather than by comparing children.

Parent – Teacher Interviews

Our Parent-Teacher Interview will be held next Wednesday 24th June. Interviews can be booked via Compass and are a very valuable opportunity for parents to meet with the class teacher and discuss semester 1 achievements as well as goals for learning and wellbeing in semester 2. This year all students from Foundation to Year 6 will be involved in a Kaboom Tabloid Sports afternoon on the oval finishing at 3.30pm, whilst interviews are being conducted. This promises to be a really enjoyable and exciting afternoon of sport for our whole school.

Syndal South Rocket Ship

Our school is very proudly home to an historic Rocketship Playground, of which there are only four left in Victoria. Our Rocket ship was originally housed in the food court at Forrest Hill Shopping Centre. In the 1980’s the food court was refurbished and the parents of Syndal South Primary School rallied to have the ship brought to our school. Unfortunately, over the year the rocket ship has suffered wear and tear and we are now looking to restore the rocket ship. We have spoken with both the Monash and Waverley Historical Societies who are very interested to support the restoration. Stay tuned for P.A and newsletter updates as we plan for the re-launch of the SSPS Rocket Ship!

Congratulations

Many of our Syndal South students have achieved success in numerous different activities and events recently.  We are exceptionally proud of our students who work and train to achieve success in their fields.

Recently our Syndal South Aerobics teams, who have trained so very hard every week, achieved great recognition and success in the State Championships at MSAC.  All eight of our teams performed well enough to qualify for the National Championships in Queensland in Term 3.  Congratulations and best of luck for Nationals.  Huge thanks to Ms Dodson, Mrs Searle, Lucy and Georgia for your first class coaching of our teams!

Congratulations to Landon from 3C who represented Syndal South at the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Cross Country.  Landon came 75th overall which is a huge achievement competing against the fastest runners from over 100 schools.

The Pokémon North America International Championships (NAIC) took place over three exciting days of competition in New Orleans, Louisiana, from 12–14 June 2026. As the final International Championship event of the season, the tournament featured some of the world's best players competing in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (PTCG).

Stacy from 6P qualified for the event through the Oceania championship points system and is currently ranked 13th in Oceania in the Junior Division. Players must earn a required number of championship points throughout the season to receive an invitation to compete at NAIC.

The tournament attracted approximately 300 competitors in her division. After playing 11 matches, she finished with an impressive record of 6 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws, placing 49th overall. Her result earned her a place in the Top 64, winning her a booster box prize.

Throughout the event, she competed against players from around the world, including competitors from the United States, Australia, Canada, China, and several other countries.
