Choir
Your child has the exciting opportunity to perform as part of the Warrnambool Organ Festival Children's Choir on Saturday 8 August at 6:00pm.
The choir will perform two songs:
I Am Australian (Waltzing Matilda)
Count on Me by Bruno Mars
Students have been learning and rehearsing these songs during our weekly choir sessions at school.
Our Year 5 School Leaders travelled to Warrnambool with Mrs Huf for the first combined rehearsal on Monday 20 July and will attend a second rehearsal on Monday 3 August. They have returned with valuable insights and enthusiasm, helping to prepare the rest of our choir for the performance.
We would love to see our Cavendish choir represented alongside other schools from across the South West, including Warrnambool West Primary School and Port Fairy Consolidated School. If you are able to bring your child to Warrnambool for the performance, it will be a wonderful opportunity for them to experience singing as part of a large combined choir and to be involved in this special community event. If you can't make it but you would like your child to attend please reach out to myself or Mrs Steele and we will come up with a plan to get them there!
Drama
Something exciting is happening in the Performing Arts room... another original play is officially in the works at Cavendish Primary School!
Our students have been busy sharing ideas, brainstorming storylines, creating characters and voting on their favourite concepts. The creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm on display has been fantastic, and we can't wait to see the script come to life.
We're hoping to present a special performance for our school community at the end of Term 3, so keep an eye out for more details. It's shaping up to be a mini production you won't want to miss!
What's Coming Up
The second half of the year is shaping up to be an exciting one for our students, with a number of performance opportunities planned in Warrnambool and Hamilton.
These events will give students the chance to showcase their talents, perform for new audiences and gain valuable performance experience. We look forward to sharing more details with families as plans are finalised.

Music - We Have New Instruments!
It's an exciting time in the Performing Arts room! Thanks to the Music in Schools Grant, we have welcomed a fantastic range of new instruments, including a class set of chime bars, Boomwhackers and keyboards, along with four guitars and seven mini djembe drums.
These new resources will allow us to expand our music program and provide students with even more opportunities to learn how to read and play music using a variety of instruments.
Our recorder program is also making a welcome return. Students now have access to a recorder at both school and home, helping them develop consistent practice habits. They have been sent home with a display folder containing their music, along with a practice sticker chart to record their progress.
Learning an instrument is about much more than playing the right notes. It teaches responsibility, perseverance, self-discipline and the value of regular practice. While the recorder may not always be the quietest instrument in the house, a few minutes of practice in a bedroom (with the door closed!) or outside can make a big difference. Thank you for supporting your child's musical journey, we're looking forward to seeing their confidence and skills continue to grow throughout the year.
Community Involvement - Calling All Unused Instruments! 🎶🥁
Do you have any spare percussion instruments or musical treasures tucked away at home gathering dust? We would love to give them a new life in our Performing Arts classroom!
Whether it’s tambourines, shakers, drums, triangles, maracas, ukuleles, keyboards, or other instruments no longer being used, they could become a wonderful resource for our students’ musical learning and creativity.
If you have instruments looking for a new home, please drop them into the school office — your donation could help inspire our next generation of performers and musicians!
