Start Your Future
Six students from Uralla Central have taken the opportunity to participate in the Term 3 Start Your Future taster courses at Armidale TAFE. The Start Your Future initiative is facilitated by the Educational Pathways Program (EPP).
On Thursday Emily C and Maddi R attended the Early Childhood Education and Care course which runs for four weeks. They had a wonderful time making felt animals and playdough. Next week they are going on an excursion to an Armidale pre-school.
Becky, Chelsea, Emily and Sage commenced their one day per week, 8-week Beauty course on Friday. They really enjoyed their first day working with nails. In coming weeks, they will learn about skincare and makeup.
Both courses are delivered by highly qualified teachers, giving students the opportunity
to participate in hands-on activities to gain insight and knowledge into the potential career and pathway opportunities within each industry.
EPP VET Ambassador Workshop
During the last school holidays Hannah Khan joined the Educational Pathways Program (EPP) VET Ambassadors from across NSW for a two-day workshop at the Department of Education office in Parramatta. Through interactive workshops the participants built valuable connections and learned to tailor communication techniques. Everyone felt it was a fantastic opportunity to connect, discover and empower each other. The sessions encouraged everyone to share their VET pathways stories with the aim to inspire other students to engage with work and study.
Congratulations Hannah and thank you for attending. The EPP team look forward to you sharing your experiences with other students across our schools in the future.
Japanese
Last term Year 7 finished off their food topic with a fun activity sampling Japanese snack foods and sweets, and sketching the packaging. These examples were done by Charlie, Shaun, Josie and Will.
This term their topic is animals and pets. Students have been asked to bring in a photo of one of their pets for use in a written task for assessment.
