Public Education Week 2026
This week, our school is joining with all public, high and central schools from across NSW to celebrate Public Education Week! The theme for this year is "Inspiring Excellence", recognising the achievements, diversity, and strength of public education, and highlighting the important role our school plays in shaping the future of our young people here in Uralla.
Throughout the week, students and staff will participate in a variety of activities that showcase learning, creativity, and collaboration. From trivia quizes yesterday and our special assembly today, everyone is encouraged to get involved and share their pride in public education.
Each year, our schools are invited to present three awards to members of our school community for their hard work and commitment. At a special presentation on Tuesday, I was pleased to announce the following award winners:
Mackenzie Kirker - Outstanding commitment to learning from a student
Jason Auld - Outstanding commitment to students and school operations from a member of staff
Nikki Farthing - Outstanding support and contribution to Uralla Central School from a member of the community

Regional Art Success
Congratulations to all our talented students who entered artworks in last week’s Let’s Hang It Art Exhibition! Over 700 entries were received, and we are very proud to acknowledge three of our students on being selected among the 64 finalists:

Special congratulations to Finley and Liliana for coming second in their divisions. What an amazing achievement!
Special thanks go to Mrs Hunt and Miss Rabaud, our class teachers, who supported our students throughout their artistic journeys.
Congratulations Joah
During the last school holidays, Joah Bell attended a soccer workshop in Armidale. He was chosen to attend another workshop at Surfer's Paradise in the next school holidays and if selected, could even be asked to travel to the United Kingdom to meet with the Westham United team. Congratulations Joah on such a wonderful achievement!
NAPLAN 2026
All parents of students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 should have received their NAPLAN results for 2026. If you didn't receive these, please contact us at the school.
Kindergarten Transition is Underway
Our Kindergarten Transition program is well underway with a group of very keen students each Wednesday morning. Our program commences at 9am each morning and runs until 11am. We invite all students who will be commencing Kindergarten in 2027 to join us. Please contact us at the school if you have any questions.
PSSA and CHS Athletics
We wish those students competing at the primary and secondary zone athletics carnivals last week and this week, all the very best. It is such an achievement to represent at this level. North West Athletics carnivals will be held later in the term.
Welcome Saho and Ingrid
We welcome two international exchange students to Uralla Central School this term. Saho is from Japan and Ingrid is from Sweden. Both girls are enrolled in Secondary and have quickly settled into Australia life. Welcome to both of you!
Student Code of Conduct
Below is an image of the NSW Department of Education's new Student Code of Conduct. This document is the new and updated requirement for every student in our public, high and central schools across NSW. This poster is displayed in every classroom at our school and I will be formally presenting the new code to all students very soon.
Year 12 Graduation Assembly
Our Year 12 graduation assembly will be held on Thursday 24 September at 11.30am. This will be followed by refreshments for students and their families. Please mark this date in your calendars. We would hope to have all students and their guests at our special event.
Attendance at Uralla Central School
As a school, we are working hard to improve student attendance at school. At the time of writing, these are the attendance rates so far for Term 2:
Primary: 47.8% of students attending more than 90% of the time
Secondary: 25.7% of students attending more than 90% of the time
I am confident that we can improve on these results.
The Department of Education monitors student attendance as it is important for students to be at school every day. Consistent school attendance supports not only academic achievement but also strengthens connections with teachers and peers, contributing to a sense of belonging and wellbeing.
Improving school attendance is a shared responsibility. Parents and carers can help by encouraging positive attitudes toward school, ensuring students get enough rest, and seeking support when challenges arise. Schools can create welcoming environments and offer resources to help students overcome barriers to attendance.
