World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day 2026
Students Dive into Ocean Conservation
On Friday, 12 June, St Simon the Apostle Primary School celebrated World Oceans Day which was lots of fun. Students and staff were encouraged to dress in ocean-themed costumes and bring along a gold coin donation to support the Dolphin Research Institute.
St Simon’s is proud to be part of the i Sea, i Care Victorian Marine Ambassadors Program. Earlier this term, our students attended a special training day to prepare for their World Oceans Day presentations and activities.
World Oceans Day is celebrated annually on 8 June and highlights the vital role oceans play in sustaining life on Earth. It also encourages communities to take action to protect marine environments for future generations.
Our eight Victorian Marine Ambassadors did a fantastic job sharing their knowledge about marine life and the importance of keeping our oceans clean. Throughout the day, they ran engaging workshops for Prep and Grade one students, inspiring younger learners to become ocean advocates themselves.
We were impressed by the confidence and leadership skills demonstrated by the students as they presented to their peers. A special thank you goes to Miss Do for her dedication and support in preparing the students for the workshops.
We are delighted to announce that the St Simon’s school community raised almost $300 for the Dolphin Research Institute. This outstanding result reflects the generosity and commitment of our families, students and staff.
Congratulations to Kaiden, Boyd, Erin, Sienna, Cohen, Oscar A, Kaylee M and Piper E for their hard work in organising and delivering such a successful event. Their enthusiasm and leadership made the day a memorable one for everyone involved. We may even have some future teachers in the making!
