Please contact the school office if you have any questions.

Dear Parents and Carers

As we wrap up a wonderful and incredibly productive Term 2, I want to thank all of our students, staff, and families for their hard work, dedication, and support over the past ten weeks. We have shared so many fantastic achievements, milestones, and moments of growth together.

I wish all of our families a safe, happy, and deeply restful winter holiday break. May this time away from the morning rush be filled with relaxation, quality time together, and a chance to recharge. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed, energised, and ready for another exciting term of learning and community in Term 3!

Staff Faith Development and Professional Learning - Friday 5th June - School Closure

On our recent school closure day, staff spent a meaningful day of prayer, reflection, and formation at the Don Bosco Retreat Centre in Lysterfield. Our focus centred on the inspiring lives of St. Patrick and St. Francis. Through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching, we reflected on how both saints lived out these core tenets in their daily ministries. We were blessed to be joined by Fr. Jerald at the end of the day to celebrate Mass, capping off a deeply rewarding day of shared learning and fellowship.

School Reports Semester 1

As we approach the end of the term, Semester 1 student reports will be available for parents and families this week via the nForma Portal. These reports are a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate your child’s hard work, achievements, and personal growth over the past two terms. It is important to remember that a school report is a snapshot in time; learning is a lifelong, progressive journey that unfolds at different speeds, rates, twists, and turns for each child. Strong communication between home and school remains the key to unlocking and supporting your child's learning journey, and we encourage you to discuss these achievements and future goals together.

Staffing

We wish Adelia all the very best as she commences her parental leave from the final week of Term 2. Consequently, we are delighted to welcome Emily Roleff to the Year 4 team. Emily will be teaching 4B on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the remainder of the year, while Michael will continue teaching the class on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. Additionally, some of our STEM specialist lessons will be taught by Mrs Marinda McKnight for the rest of the year.

In other staff news, Karl Camerino has begun a leave of absence as he and his wife, Ash, welcome their second child into the world. We send our warmest congratulations to their growing family! During Karl's absence, Physical Education (PE) will be taught by two of our well-known casual relief teachers, Claire Dimilio and Kath Burmann. Classroom teachers, with the support of the Leadership team, will also continue to guide and support students through their Interschool Sport activities.

St Simon's Fete - Partnership and Promotional opportunities for local and small businesses

This wonderful event is a highlight of our calendar, bringing together families, friends, and the wider community for a day of fun and celebration. To make this year’s fete our best one yet, we are inviting members of our school community and local businesses to partner with us.

We have a variety of fantastic promotional and sponsorship opportunities available, offering an excellent platform to showcase your business while supporting our community.

Extra Curricular Activities - After School

From time to time, families have expressed an interest in access to after-school activities for students across a range of interests and hobbies.

These activities are not a replacement for our after-school care program, operated by Beyond EduCare, they are shorter (around 30-60 minutes) sessions that operate for part of a school term.

In the past, we have had tennis coaching, and the Young Engineers Lego Club operated for several Terms through a school year.

In Term 3, we have a new opportunity for families to consider.

Code Camp - After School Coding Opportunities

After-School Code Camp allows kids to hone their coding skills and keep practising through weekly sessions over the term. Each week, students will choose the features they want to build and advance their problem-solving skills to build these features using code. They will take ownership over their projects and collaborate with their peers to make awesome apps.

When a school closure day is scheduled, Beyond Edu Care will operate a program of care for the day so that families can have their children looked after on the school site.
