Term 2 with Stage 2

This has been an incredibly busy term for Stage 2. There isn't a single subject that we haven't been working hard in!
English
We have been writing informative texts on all sorts of topics, ranging from the Gallipoli landing to extinct animals. Our "proud work" wall is completely full of these fantastic pieces! We have also been exploring books about the ANZACs, as well as My Place by Nadia Wheatley, which ties in perfectly with our learning in HSIE.
Maths
Multiplication, 2D shapes, and chance are just a few of the concepts that have kept our brains ticking over the last few weeks.
HSIE
We have been exploring history through a local lens—looking at everything from the local Celtic festival to how different places in our area originally got their names.
Religion
Learning about the different parts of the Mass was a major focus this term. Outside of our regular lessons, we celebrated our classmates who made their First Holy Communion, and we were all incredibly moved by the visiting Carlo Acutis display.
PDHPE
It's a wonder we have any energy left at all! Between athletics training, high jump practice, and the carnival itself—followed up by a fun touch football skills session—Stage 2 has been non-stop.
Science
It’s all about forces in Science! We have been exploring gravity, push, pull, and magnetism, and now we feel confident in understanding how they work. It was fascinating to see how simple actions can demonstrate complex concepts, and we had a great time experimenting with these powerful forces first-hand.
CAPA
Our creative arts theme this term was "Objects." We created amazing still-life artworks of vases and bottles that could hang in any home, experimented with making music using everyday items, and worked with partners to act out different objects in drama like salt and pepper shakers or a pair of shoes. To wrap things up, we are now using sports equipment to choreograph our own dances in small groups.
