Active Learning 

Our school is undertaking a push to ensure our students are active learners. The attached active learner matrix is present in all classrooms. In term 2, we will be doing more teaching of the behaviours that drive active learning with the hope that all students will come to understand and embrace what it means to be an active learner. 

Homework Club

Homework Club runs at lunchtime on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Students are encouraged to come along and get their homework completed, catch up on missed work, or get some help. There’s teacher support in a quiet space and is open to all secondary students. 

Literacy 

Attached is a resource for parents and carers that may help with home reading. These are question stems you can use after or during reading at home with your child. You may wish to print them out and use them as a bookmark. Laminated bookmarks and other resources will be available at learning conversations and at our literacy/numeracy evening (date pending).

Numeracy 

Tip of the week:  

Numerical Language: Use mathematical words when you describe things. For example, instead of saying "the big red bucket", you might say "the 10-litre bucket". Instead of saying "the large packet of rice", you might say "the 2-kilogram packet of rice".
