Holiday Works

The term break was abuzz with a number of exciting works being completed throughout the school

Gym upgrades

Our gym received a much needed freshen up! The new paint job has made our gym look much brighter and cleaner. The gym toilets also received a fresh coat of paint and lighting upgrades. All skylights were also replaced which has greatly increased the amount of natural light coming into the space.

I'd like to thank the hard work of our Parents Association and everyone for supporting the recent fundraising initiatives to make this project possible. I look forward to sharing some before and after photos once the entire project is complete.

Other works included

• Science room being freshly painted

• New sinks being installed in the Art room

• Steam cleaning of all classrooms

• Tree works throughout the school

Park Ridge Reserve Pathway Works

Pleasingly, the term break coincided with Knox Council beginning works to install a path between our school and Park Ridge Reserve. This initiative will give families another drop off/pick up location and hopefully take some pressure off our very busy local streets. We hope that the path will be open for use in the near future.

Please note that the oval gate will remain shut while works are being finalised. Please use either the Burchall Crescent entrance or any of our gates along Wentworth Avenue. We will communicate when the path is ready for use. 

Semester 1 Reports - Achievement Rating Change.

We have been busy preparing for our upcoming Semester 1 Reports and have decided to make a minor change to clarify student achievement to our families.

In previous reports, students were given a rating in a 5 point scale between "A" and "E" to describe their achievement against the relevant curriculum progression point. This has contributed confusion due to how traditional letter scaling has been used in the past to mark assignments/exams/pieces of work.

We have decided to move to the following achievement rating scale in the hope of giving a clearer picture of student achievement.

A will now be communicated as Well Above 

B will now be communicated as Above

C will now be communicated as At

D will now be communicated as Below

E will now be communicated as Well Below

The following definitions will also be published in our reports –

Well Above - Well above the standard expected at this time of the year (18 months or more ahead)

Above - Above the standard expected at this time of the year (6-12 months ahead)

At - At the standard expected at this time of year

Below - Below the standard expected at this time of year (12-18 months behind)

Well Below - Well below the standard expected at this time of the year (24 months or more behind)

These definitions will also be published on the report for easy reference.
