What's been happening this week?

GALA DAY!
The Year 3/4 students had a fantastic day representing Box Hill North Primary School at Gala Day. They competed enthusiastically in Netball and T-Ball, demonstrating excellent teamwork, sportsmanship, and all of our school values throughout the day.
BLAST OFF!
Our 1/2 students blasted off into creativity today! Using 7 different shapes, students designed and built their own rockets, showing fantastic imagination, problem-solving and mathematical thinking. It was wonderful to see their creativity take flight as they explored how shapes can be combined to create something out of this world!
CANDLE MAKING
This week, the Year 3/4 students continued exploring Heat as part of our Inquiry unit. They made candles and investigated how heat can be transferred through radiation, using a microwave to melt the wax. Many students identified that a candle itself is a source of heat. The class also discussed how applying heat changed the wax from a solid into a liquid, helping them understand how materials can change state when heated. It was a fun and engaging way to culminate our unit on Heat, allowing students to apply their learning through a hands-on experience.
BUDDY TIME!
INCREDIBLE ARTWORK
The year 1 and 2 have almost finished their adorable art pieces for the trivia night a butterfly kaleidoscope. This piece saw the students excitement with two marble painting methods. The first method known as, Suminagashi a Japanese water marbling, uses floating ink on water. The second method involved shaving cream and metallic and fluro paint.
