Leadership's Letter

It is a privilege to be writing to the Mazenod College community for the first time in my role as Director of ICT. Having now been in the role for eight months, this feels like an appropriate moment to introduce myself more formally and share a little about my background, my values, and the work ahead for the ICT team.

I have spent the past 27 years working in information technology across K–12 education, within both Catholic and Independent school settings. Throughout that time, I have developed a strong passion for unlocking the benefits of technology to support teaching and learning. At its best, technology can empower teachers, engage students, and help prepare young people to navigate an increasingly complex and uncertain world beyond their schooling years. This sense of purpose has guided my career and continues to shape my work at Mazenod.

The schools and communities I have served over the years have closely aligned with my core values of empathy, integrity, respect, and purpose. These same values are clearly evident at Mazenod College. Since joining the College, I have been warmly welcomed by staff, students, and families alike, and I am deeply grateful for the generosity and support shown to me as I continue to learn and grow in this role. Mazenod’s strong Catholic identity and genuine sense of community are not just statements of intent - they are lived each day, and I have certainly felt that.

My mission as Director of ICT is to work alongside my dedicated team to provide a high-quality service to both the teaching and learning and operational areas of the College. Our aim is to collaborate closely across the school to deliver an innovative, high-performing, secure, and safe digital environment - one that enables everyone in the community to thrive and to focus on what matters most: learning, growth, and wellbeing.

I have also been impressed and humbled by the many College and community events that form part of Mazenod’s traditions. These experiences make it no surprise that the College is held in such high regard within the broader community and continues to be a school of choice for outstanding Catholic secondary education for boys.

Looking ahead, the ICT department has a busy year underway. Alongside our annual operational responsibilities, we are delivering several significant initiatives, including ICT services to support the Science facilities upgrade, a refresh of the College’s edge networking and switching infrastructure to future proof reliable and high performing connectivity, upgrades to audio visual systems across key learning and community spaces, and the ongoing management of our 1 to 1 laptop program for both staff and students.

I am genuinely excited about what the remainder of the year will bring and look forward to continuing to work in partnership with the wider community. Together, we will ensure that the ICT team continues to provide outstanding service in support of this great College and its mission.
