STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES

If you have any photos of your children representing St Patrick's at upcoming trials where teachers won’t be in attendance, please send through some photos for us to share with our school community.

Conference 3 Swimming Trials

On Monday 25th March at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre we have the following 13 students representing Conference 3 and our school at the Sydney Swimming Championships. Good luck to Xavier D Ethan G, Elsie B, Annaleigh KD, Dennis L, Oscar T, James S, Hudson S, Madison W, Grace T, Zachary C, Lachlan T and Sam E. Please ensure you have registered for this event through the online CSNSW Sport portal. Mrs Burfield will approve this attendance once you have registered.

MacKillop Tennis

On Wednesday 21st February in Rockdale, Petar competed for a spot on the MacKillop Tennis Team. We are pleased to announce that Petar has accomplished this again for 2024, two years in a row. What a great achievement. Petar will continue with his strict training regime to prepare for the NSWPSSA Tennis tournament as a member of the MacKillop Team. This event will be held in Newcastle during May.

MacKillop Basketball

Three of our Year 6 students formed the Sydney Team at the MacKillop Basketball Trials on Friday 23rd February. Ethan P, Franklin G and Lachlan P enjoyed the experience and all noted the high level of talent at this trial. It was so impressive to have three members of our school be represented in the Sydney team. I’m sure the boys were able to reflect on the experience which will guide them for future events.

Football (Soccer)

On Tuesday 27th February we had nine students representing our school at the Conference 3 Football Trials at Kareela. Congratulations to Noah VD, Lenny A, Dion T, Luca U and Christopher P as well as our girl representatives Annaleigh KD, Lana B, Rebecca W and Grace T. Although we don’t have anyone progressing to the Sydney Trial for this event, this has been a great experience for our students to be a part of the sporting pathways with Sydney Catholic Schools.

Rugby League

We wish Harlem T, Jye L, Hunter B and Zachary C all the best at the upcoming combined conference 3 and 4 Rugby league trials on Tuesday 5th March. Go get them boys!

Years 2-6 School Cross Country Trial

Our Cross Country Trial is fast approaching on Monday 11th March at Waratah Upper and Lower Fields. A COMPASS event will shortly be created with all participants who filled out a nomination form which closes on February 29th February.

If you haven’t started preparing yourself for this trial, start jogging safely around your local park to improve your fitness levels.

Students will leave school at 9:00am and return at approximately 1:00pm. Alternatively, you can drop your child to Waratah Fields at 9:15am. Please note that if you are dropping your child off at the track, supervision will start from 9:15am due to course set up. Students will then walk back to school after the trial has finished to resume with regular formal lessons.

Students participating can wear their own running attire to school but they must change back into their sports uniform or regular school uniform at school after the trial. We are offering this personal choice of attire so students are running in their most comfortable gear.

Great Whites Legends Rugby League Gala Day - Years 3-6

Our school is participating in the Rugby League Great Whites Legends Gala Day hosted by NRL on Wednesday 3rd April at The Ridge Sporting Complex, Barden Ridge. This is an optional event and parents/carers are required to arrange transport for their child to and from the ground.

If your child is interested in attending this event, please fill in the following Registration Form. Registration forms will close on Friday 8th March. After registrations close, you will be shared a COMPASS event where all future correspondence for this day will be shared.

Key information which has already been shared to all 3-6 families is included below.

The Gala Day is of non-competitive nature and therefore no finals will be played.

This year there is an option to enter a tag and/or tackle team. It is highly recommended if you select tackle, your child has had prior experience in regular competition involving trained tackle techniques outside of school. Therefore you will be placed into a team with other students in your stage from our school who selected tackle. If there are not enough teams from other schools entering a tackle team, then this option will be removed and students will be playing League Tag with the students who initially showed interest in League Tag only.

Divisions include:

  • Stage 2 Mixed. At this point there is no option for a separate boys and girls team however depending on the ratio and numbers of those selecting tackle or tag, negotiations will be made with NRL and communicated to all Stage 2 families before forming teams.
  • Stage 3 Boys
  • Stage 3 Girls

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

The Annual School Athletics Carnival for Years 2-6 will be held on Monday 8th April 2024 at The Ridge Athletic Track, Barden Ridge. The carnival is a fun, school event but also acts as a trial for the Conference 3 Athletics Trial held on Monday 12th August 2024. Our Kindergarten and Year 1 students will participate in a fun sport day called the St Patrick’s Games held at school on a separate day in Term 2.

Please provide consent via COMPASS by Thursday 28th March.

Our carnival will conduct timed/measured events and grade events. Timed/measured events are for athletes with a high level of skill who want to be considered to represent the school at the Conference 3 Trial. Grade events are for students who do not wish to be considered for selection at the Conference trial but would like to compete against students in their own grade. Ribbons/Placings will be awarded for both options.

If you would like to nominate your child for a timed/measured event, please complete this Registration Form by Friday 15th March 2024. After this date the link will expire.

All students must travel by bus to the track. They will be required at school by 8:30am. The carnival will finish at approximately 2:15pm. Students can leave the carnival with a parent/carer or travel back to school by bus. If you are choosing to take your child/children home directly after the event, you will need to sign your child out with their classroom teacher. We will invite parents with an announcement to find your child’s teacher at the conclusion of all events. If an arrangement changes after the electronic permission form on COMPASS has been submitted, please send a note or email to your child’s class teacher as we require this in writing.

If you are available to assist we would greatly appreciate your help. Please register via the Parent Helper Registration Form. You require a WWCC number and will need it verified by Sydney Catholic Schools along with completing the online volunteer induction.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag Football is an Olympic Sport in 2028 and the NFL is putting a lot of resources Worldwide for the promotion of the sport. Our school will be involved in this program which at this point will be targeted at our current Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 students. Miss Devlin will complete an online course to implement a 6 week program through the PE Syllabus. NFL will also be sending us brand new footballs and 30 flag belts to kickstart this new sport at our school. After the 6 week program our school will look into entering the NSW State Tournament in which the winning team receive a funded trip to Brisbane to compete at the National Cup. The winning primary school of the national cup will continue to receive a funded trip to the Pro Bowl in the US.

We look forward to sharing and promoting this new sport right here at St Pat’s.

COMMUNITY SPORT

Lila M has been a very busy athlete this February. She recently competed in the NSW State Cup Touch Football in Wagga in very hot conditions. Lila was captain of this team who were undefeated all tournament and won the Grand Final as the Southern Conference Champions. Her team will continue to compete in March against the Northern Conference Champions to see who are the overall State Champions. Eva T also was a part of this team with Lila.

Prior to this Lila was also captain of her team who competed in the NSW State Oztag Championships in Penrith. Lila's team was able to reach the quarter finals and despite loosing 1-0 is was a very close competition. and we are proud of the effort the girls put into training to achieve this result.

Great effort and achievements Lila. Good luck at the State Champions.
