Library News

We have had a busy start to the Library in 2024. We especially welcome our Kindergarten students who are enjoying borrowing for the first time at St Patrick’s.

Premier’s Reading Challenge

St Patrick’s will be participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) again in 2024!

The aim of the PRC is:

  • to encourage a love of reading for pleasure
  • to enable children to experience quality literature

Students and families will receive more information in the coming weeks regarding PRC.

2024 Library Events

Our students look forward to some very exciting events each year which promote a love of reading. These include our annual Book Fair, the CBCA Book Week and our much anticipated Book Week Parade. The theme of Book Week this year is ‘Reading is Magic’.

You may even see St Patrick’s staff dress up and join in the parade!

Did you know our Oliver Library System offers a fantastic range of digital resources? This includes:

  • eBooks
  • Audiobooks
  • Read Alongs

  • Comics

There are many advantages of using the digital library:

  • No lost books or need for library bags!
  • Many collections are always available - no waiting for books.
  • Individual borrowers have a loan limit of 4 items.
  • eBooks and audiobooks are available for a period of 21 days.
  • Magazines and comics are always available.
  • On the due date, outstanding items will automatically return.
  • Items which are on loan to others may be placed on hold.

Our Australian Catholic Education Network (ACEN) digital library can easily be accessed on mobile devices (free app), chromebooks and computers.

How to access Sora

In order to access the ACEN library, students must be familiar with their CEnet username and password (provided by school) to students in years 1-6 (these are the details that the students use to log onto Chromebooks with).

We would love to see our students and families using this wonderful resource! If you have a reluctant reader or your child has a special interest other than reading a novel, you may find the ACEN digital library will inspire your child to give reading a second chance.

If you have any questions or are not familiar with your child’s CEnet details please contact our library staff info@stpsutherland.catholic.edu.au

Happy Reading!
