Religious Dimension

Lent
As a Catholic community, we have now entered the season of Lent, a special time in our Church year where we pause, reflect and think about how we can grow to be the best versions of ourselves. Lent encourages us to focus on prayer, helping others and making good choices in our everyday lives.
Throughout this season, our students will be learning about ways they can show kindness, include others and care for those in need. As part of this, our school will again support Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, which raises awareness and funds to support vulnerable communities around the world.
Each learning space will have a Project Compassion box, and we warmly invite families to contribute if they are able. Even small donations can make a meaningful difference to the lives of others. Thank you for supporting our students as they learn about compassion, generosity and justice during this important time.
Project Compassion Pyjama Day
As part of our support for Caritas Australia and Project Compassion, we will be holding a Pyjama Day on Friday 27th March.
On this day, students are invited to come to school dressed in their pyjamas and bring along a gold coin donation. All money raised will go towards Caritas Australia, supporting communities around the world who are experiencing poverty, injustice and the impacts of natural disasters.
Project Compassion is an important part of our Lenten journey, reminding us to show compassion, kindness and generosity to others. Through simple actions like this, our students are able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
We thank our families in advance for supporting this wonderful cause and helping our school community live out the values of care, compassion and service.
Year 3 Reconciliation
Last week, many of our Year 3 students celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation at St Mary Star of the Sea. It was a special and meaningful evening for our students and their families.
During their preparation, students learned that sometimes we “miss the mark” in the choices we make. Reconciliation reminds us that everyone makes mistakes, but we are always able to reflect, say sorry and begin again with a change of heart.
We are very proud of our Year 3 students for the thoughtful and respectful way they approached this important step in their faith journey. Thank you to our families, staff and parish community for supporting them.
Reminder: St Joseph’s Day Celebrations
A friendly reminder that we will be celebrating St Joseph’s Day on Thursday 19th March, an important day for our school community as St Joseph is the patron saint of our school.
Students will begin the day by attending Mass at St Mary Star of the Sea at 9:15am, and families are warmly welcome to join us. Following Mass, students will participate in a range of house-based activities, learning more about St Joseph and the story behind our school houses.
In the afternoon, students will walk to Sorrento Park for our Colour Fun Run and BBQ lunch. It promises to be a wonderful day celebrating our school community, faith and fun together.
We look forward to sharing this special day with our students and thank our parent helpers who are supporting the celebrations.
