Preps - Excursion to the Melbourne Museum!
Last Friday, our Preps headed off to the Melbourne Museum to explore our Curiosity topic, ‘How have our lives changed over time?’ It was a wonderful day of discovery, with plenty of hands-on experiences that brought our learning to life.
We visited ‘Grandma’s Toybox,’ where a Museum member led us, exploring how toys, games and cameras have changed over the past 250 years. Students had the opportunity to handle jacks, old lead toy soldiers (in plastic), books, dolls and cameras, including one that could only take six photos!
We also explored the ‘Melbourne Gallery,’ discovering how Melbourne has changed over time. Students stepped inside an old home and experienced what life was like before electricity, flushing toilets and modern kitchen appliances. They were fascinated by how different everyday life was compared to today.
After a busy day of exploring, learning and asking lots of questions, many of our Preps enjoyed a well earned nap on the bus ride back to school. A wonderful day was had by all, and our students returned with an appreciation for how much life has changed over time!
