Message from the School Council: Fair funding for Coburg High School - We need YOU
Last year School Council submitted a Freedom of Information request to find out more about how government funding for the Schools Instrumental Music Program (SIMP) is determined, by asking for access to the review document which was completed in July 2022.
The review uncovered huge inequities in funding for the SIMP at our school and as a result CHS has missed out on a fair distribution of funding to the tune (pun intended) of in excess of $120,000 per year for far too long.
Even though the review has been available to the government for two years, and some work is now happening to fix the amount we receive, there is no commitment to fair funding to be implemented for the 2025 school year.
We cannot go another year covering this huge gap and have asked that fair funding be allocated now for our music students in 2025.
We need your help.
Please sign this petition to the parliament sponsored by local MP Anthony Cianflone and ask everyone who you know to sign it as well.
Support our school and support all our CHS students. If we don’t need to fill this gap again next year, the money we save can be used elsewhere in the school.
