Curriculum Day - Monday 3rd November:No Students

Next Monday is a curriculum day and students are not required to attend our College on this day. Tuesday is also the Melbourne Cup public holiday.  We look forward to seeing all of our students back at HGC on Wednesday, 5th November.

World Teacher's Day

Today, we are celebrating World Teachers’ Day, which is a special opportunity to recognise and thank the incredible teachers who make a difference every single day.

World Teachers’ Day is about acknowledging the dedication, care, and hard work that our teachers put into inspiring a love of learning, supporting student wellbeing, and helping every child reach their potential. Our teachers play such an important role in shaping the future by guiding, encouraging, and believing in their students.

At Hazel Glen College, we are so proud of our teaching team and the passion they bring to our classrooms. We thank all our teachers for their commitment to creating engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for our students.

Let’s take a moment this week to say thank you to a teacher who has made a difference, because every teacher deserves to be celebrated!

Attendance

At Hazel Glen College, we know that every day of learning matters. Regular school attendance helps students build strong foundations for success, both academically and socially. Missing even a small number of days can add up quickly and make it harder for students to stay connected with their learning and friendships.

Did you know?

  • Missing just one day a fortnight adds up to four weeks of missed learning over a year.
  • Over a child’s school life, that’s the equivalent of one full year of school lost!
  • Attendance is directly linked to student achievement, engagement, and wellbeing.

We understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable, such as when a child is unwell. However, encouraging regular attendance helps your child develop good routines, confidence, and a sense of belonging at school.

Let’s work together to make every day count, because every day at school is an opportunity for learning, growth, and connection.

2026 Classes

The Google form for friendship requests for 2026 classes has now closed. This form asked families to list four friends their child would like to be in a class with for 2026. Unfortunately, some forms have been completed with one friend's name listed four times. If you have completed the form in this way, your child's teacher will speak to them about other friends and add them to your child's preferences.  If you have any questions around this, please see your child's teacher.

End of Day Pickup

This is a reminder that our yard duty supervision at the end of the day finishes at 3:15 pm. After this time, students should be either picked up by their families or make their way home off school grounds.

Our OSHC (Out of School Hours Care) program is available to families after school and provides a fantastic opportunity for students to transition smoothly from the classroom to after-school care. For more information about our OSHC program, please visit the College website.
