Head of Primary Years' Report

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Hazel Glen College,

Today, we are celebrating World Teachers' Day today in Victoria. This day honours the passion and hard work of teachers, who play a crucial role in shaping the minds and futures of our students. World Teachers’ Day was established in 1994 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation to recognise the role of teachers in society. The focus for this year’s celebration is recasting teaching as a collaborative profession. Please take time to thank your child's teacher or send them a message. We are proud of our teachers here at Hazel Glen College Primary Years who work collaboratively and achieve wonderful results for students in both learning and wellbeing. Our learning and wellbeing results have exceeded Victorian State achievements.

Our Grandparents Day was well attended and there were many happy students who were excitedly waiting for their grandparents to arrive. Many activities were shared between the students and our visitors and lots of stories were also shared. Thank you for making this day special and we look forward to many more special occasions like this.

As we near closer to the end of the year, students are feeling tired and routines become more challenging as the school year draws near to the end. Please continue to help at home by encouraging positive routines, as this supports student routines whilst they are at school. The home/College partnership is an important factor in the success of our students. We value the continued support from our parents and carers. Continue to use positive approaches to discussing the transition to the new year so that students can look forward to their new classes and opportunities.

Our Prep Information Night was held on Wednesday, where we welcomed families who will be joining us in 2026. We held the evening in our Learning Lab and a big thank you to Ms Jess Frangos and Ms Jess Ellisdon for their work in coordinating the evening. Families had the opportunity to hear about the College, explore the classrooms and have time for questions. We are excited to welcome new families to the College. We are still accepting Prep Enrolments for 2026.

We hope that you can join us next Thursday for our Art and Technology Showcase. This is a College wide event with student work showcased across all year levels. Every student in our Primary Years will have their art on display in the Learning Neighbourhood.
