Harmony Day

Wednesday the 25th of March 2026

Students and staff are encouraged to celebrate Harmony Day by wearing your cultural clothing or an item of orange.

** Please ensure all clothing and shoes are appropriate for school. 

 

On Wednesday, 25th March 2026, Deer Park West Primary School will celebrate Harmony Day and the rich diversity of our students and families. Harmony Day is about community participation, inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.

On this special day, students are invited to wear orange clothing or traditional cultural dress to celebrate their culture and our school community.

We look forward to celebrating together and recognising the importance of diversity and inclusiveness in our school.

Students have been learning how to break numbers into parts, especially the different pairs that make ten. They’re looking forward to showing you how they use the game ‘Shake and Spill’ to split a set of 10 into two parts and record what they find. Come join us, play with your child, and see their growing confidence with number partitioning.

The Year 1 students invite their families to come and participate in a range of place value games that the students have played to assist them in developing their place value knowledge.

The Year 2 students invite their families to come and participate in some fun and challenging place value and addition games! Parents and students will compete against one another. The students are excited to demonstrate their place value skills. We look forward to seeing you all there!

The Year 3 students invite their families to come and participate in a shopping experience. Students will use their developing knowledge of counting money to ‘buy’ a range of items with their family’s support. We look forward to seeing you at the Grade 3 Shopping Afternoon.

The Year 4 students invite their families to come and participate in a range of addition and subtraction challenges. Be prepared to put your mind to the test!

The Year 5 students invite their families to come and participate in some decimal place value games.  Parents and students will compete against each other.
Year 6Fraction Fun

The Year 6 students warmly invite families to join them for a fun-filled afternoon of fraction challenges and puzzles. We will be putting our fraction skills to the test, and cheering each other on as they use their knowledge of equivalent fractions to compete in an exciting whole-class BINGO game to finish the day.

Cross Country

When: Tuesday the 31st of March 

Where: Deer Park West Primary School

Please note: 

If you have children participating in both sessions, please note that you will be required to leave the school grounds during the students scheduled recess time. This helps us maintain a safe and supervised environment for all students.

Parents are also reminded that student toilets cannot be used by visitors. However, you are welcome to use the staff toilets located in the main office area.

Camps, Sports & Excursion Fund (CSEF)

If you hold a valid Health Care Card, you may be eligible for the Governments Camps, Sports & Excursion Fund (CSEF). This money is kept at the school and can be used for Camps, Sports or Excursions. 

 

To apply, please bring your Health Care Card to the school office, a form will need to filled out and signed and then we can check if you are eligible. 

 

If you received CSEF payments in 2025 and your circumstances have not changed, you do not need to re-apply. 

 

You do need to notify the office if you have any new students starting in 2026 including siblings.

Zooper Dooper Sales

JSC will be selling Zooper Doopers on Wednesdays (depending on the weather) for $1 each. Students will be notified the day before and a Compass message will be sent out to families. 

Money raised by the sales go back into purchasing items for the students to use at school, like new board games, new soccer goals etc.

School Hats

As of Monday the 1st of September, students must wear a school hat while outdoors during recess, lunch and PE sessions. Students who do not have a hat, will need to sit in the No Hat NO Play shady area. School hats are available from the uniform shop. Please ensure your child's name is clearly written on their.

 

Students must wear a school broadbrimmed or legionnaires hat. 

Plain navy blue broadbrimmed or legionnaire hats are also allowed.

No other caps, visors, hats will be allowed.

Book Club

Book Club comes out twice a term. Please remember to clearly write your child's name and grade on their order form, place the form and money into an envelope and return to school by the due date.
