Grade 1 Report

Grade 1 has been very busy already this term!

The children have been making bright red poppies, carefully crafting each one and learning why they are an important symbol of remembrance for ANZAC day. They really enjoyed the hands-on activity and took a lot of pride in their work. We have also been writing simple poems about ANZAC Day to practice our handwriting.

We also read a few stories to help everyone understand the meaning behind the day. These stories sparked lots of great conversations, and the students were very curious and engaged. We also talked about our own families, with some children sharing stories about relatives who have served or how their families remember ANZAC Day each year.

It’s been a meaningful and reflective time in our classroom, and the students have shown a lovely sense of respect while learning about this important day.
