F-3 Kitchen/Garden Program
Last week. we created Pumpkin Scones which we thought were a very tasty alternative to the traditional scone. No cream and jam needed just a dob of butter! Here is the recipe for any families that would like to try
Ingredients:
1 Tbs butter or d margarine
2 cups SR Flour
1 Tbs sugar
¾ cup mashed cooked pumpkin
1 egg beaten
1 Tbs milk
1 Tbs milk for glazing
Set oven to 220C
Rub butter into flour with fingertips.
Stir in sugar, pumpkin and egg.
Mix with enough milk to form a soft dough.
Turn onto a lightly floured board and knead for a short time until smooth.
Roll out 2 cm thick and cut out about 12 scones.
Glaze tops with milk and bake at 220C for 10-15 mins until golden brown.
Cool and serve with butter.
Yesterday, we cleaned out the chook shed and spread hay in readiness for the chickens return. We also checked out the vegies we planted in the first week of term and completed an activity looking at the differences between fruit and vegetables. We sampled pieces of different fruits and looked at the seeds that were in these.
