Social Work Student for a Day

Recently, 12 of our Year 10–12 students headed to La Trobe University for a “Social Work Student for a Day” experience 🙌

Students joined peers from Notre Dame and Kyabram P–12 to take part in interactive workshops and activities that gave them a real insight into what a career in social work can look like. The day kicked off with a game of BINGO before hearing from Jess, a Graduate Social Worker at GV Health, and Manal, a former Wanganui student.

Manal shared her journey from arriving in Australia in 2017 with no English, to now working towards a career where she can support and give back to her community through both her work and volunteering,  a story that really inspired our students.

A big thank you to La Trobe University for giving our students the chance to explore future pathways, learn new skills, and hear from people with real experiences in the industry.

Branch Out Mentoring

Our Year 12 students recently took part in the third Branch Out Mentoring workshop, focused on finances and building important life skills for after school 💡💰

Students explored topics including Tax File Numbers, superannuation, starting a new job, budgeting, and managing money, with practical tools and advice they can take into the future.

A huge thank you to You Thrive and facilitator Marnie Own for continuing to support and empower our students through these valuable workshops. We’ve loved having Marnie share real-world knowledge that will truly benefit students beyond school.

The final workshop, ‘Moving Out & Living Independently’, will be held on Monday 11th.
