Do it for Dolly Day
Last week we held our annual Do it for Dolly event. Students wore blue on the day to show their support for this very important cause. Activities were co-ordinated by the Wellbeing Team and the SRC to make the day fun while providing a very important message.
Our Future Reddy Classes provided education about bullying and how students can stand together to say no to bullying. At lunch, music played in the courtyard, students made bracelets and had their faces painted with butterflies, and their hair painted blue. A great day was had by all, while providing an opportunity to have a healthy discussion around bullying and to take a stand against unacceptable behaviours.
Bullying has far-reaching impacts for individuals, schools, school communities and society more broadly. For individuals, impacts can affect:
The impacts of bullying can be short, medium and long term – and can be experienced by any student exposed to bullying (either by being bullied, bullying others or witnessing bullying).
Being that Bullying can have such a huge impact on people’s life, it is so important that we come together to discuss this topic and speak out when we see it happening.
A huge shout out to all that put in the hard work to get this event together, especially the students that helped on the day from SRC, it is because of your great work that events like this can come to fruition. Keep up the great work!
