Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

Our recent Open Night was a great success, with a strong turnout and really positive engagement from prospective families. Early signs are encouraging, with solid interest already building for 2027 enrolments. A big thank you to all staff for the time and effort that went into preparing and showcasing our school so well. We’d love to hear feedback from our school families and staff to help us keep improving future events.

The Year 8 Camp has now wrapped up and continues to be an important part of our camp program, alongside Snow Camp and our tertiary pathways trip. Each of these experiences is designed to support different aspects of student growth, including independence, resilience, teamwork and connection to future pathways.

We’ve also started an independent review of FLO Connect. Input has been invited from stakeholders, with a focus on enrolment processes, how the campus operates and evidence-informed practice. This review will help ensure we’re making informed decisions and continuing to strengthen this important area of our work.

Our work with an educational consultant is ongoing as we look to consolidate where we’re at and map out clear directions for the future. A key part of this is developing a shared understanding across our school community about our journey—where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we’re heading next. This includes shaping a clear set of Red Cliffs Secondary College learner attributes, building on the strong foundations established by our local primary schools.

We continue to monitor and progress our Annual Implementation Plan (AIP), led by the leadership team. Key actions are being planned, implemented and reviewed throughout the year. Our ongoing focus is on maximising learning growth while supporting student wellbeing. One recent highlight is the strengthening of our Professional Learning Community (PLC) structures, helping to improve consistency and support across classrooms.

The Student Opinion Survey will take place in the coming weeks. We’re looking forward to reviewing the results, particularly around students’ sense of belonging, connectedness and engagement.

We’re currently recruiting for a Mathematics teacher and an English/Humanities teacher, and it’s encouraging to see an increase in both the number and quality of applicants.

We’re also continuing to review our Child Safety Policies and implement updated PROTECT guidelines, with leadership and wellbeing staff recently undertaking professional learning in this area.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the school. I invite families to contact me at any time to ask questions or to provide your valued feedback.

Mr. Ben Nicholson
