Dear Marian Catholic College Community,
Week 4, Term 4 events have included the last of the HSC exams, Melbourne Cup Day Festivities, the Year 10 Camp along with teaching and learning for the students at school
Year 10 attended Camp Wombaroo in the Southern Highlands with Mrs Star, Mr Abdala, Mrs Dickie, Ms Jarvis, Ms Carlile, Mr Munro and Ms Ponferrada. The camp has gone very well and students should return home this afternoon ready for a restful weekend. Students learn many skills at Camp Wombaroo, with onsite camp leaders taking them through a range of activities designed to increase resilience, personal confidence, teamwork as well as to build other essential life skills. Activities undertaken at this year’s camp included working with high ropes, raft building, canoeing, archery and chariot racing. Thank you to the camp leaders and to Ms Reynolds for planning and support behind the scenes.
For Year 12 2024 the HSC is done! Well done to all graduating students who have completed their exams. Thanks to Mrs Norris and her team and Mr Seers and Mrs Fisher for the organisation and oversight of the HSC 2024. Now the focus is on next week’s big event on Friday 15th-the Graduation Dinner. Families might also wish to note that this year there is an opportunity for families, including extended family members to celebrate the end of this momentous journey for Year 12 2024 with a family mass at the Church of the Sacred Heart at 5pm, before the group photograph and graduation dinner at the Yoogali club on Friday evening. Graduation dinners would not be possible without the hard work of Mrs O’Keeffe, Mrs Van Jaarsveld and front office staff, Mrs Segrave, Mr Alexander and many, many others working tirelessly behind the scenes. Thank you also to Ginette and Erin from Formality for capturing this special day for students and families, to the Parish for the celebratory mass and to the Yoogali Club for providing the venue and what will be an amazing night next week.
Other Events-Melbourne Cup Day was celebrated this week in style with festivities, games, live music and a “Cup Day” Cake stall organised by Mrs Centofanti, Mr Segrave and supported by many teachers and staff. Back in the staffroom, Mr Morris organised a staff sweepstake for the big race. Thank you also to Mrs Kaoor, Mrs Dhanoa and Mrs Sharma for their generous provision of a special staff lunch last Friday to acknowledge and welcome the Festival of Diwali, which all staff enjoyed.
Last Sunday Mrs Anna Rossetto was thanked for her more than 13 years of outstanding service as Parish Secretary to the Sacred Heart Parish and broader community. Fr Henry Ibe, Fr Connell Perry, Fr Andrew Grace, Srs Letty and Marilyn along with St Theresa and Fr Neil paid tribute to her passion, care, organisation and magnificent service dedicated to the Parish of the Sacred Heart. Mrs Rossetto said that her faith in God, the support of her husband Paul and her family and the love of the Parish were her inspiration and source of strength. Thank you Anna, as one of the schools of the Sacred Heart Parish, Marian Catholic College passes on a heartfelt thanks for your support for all of us!
